ill be there... figuring out what the next weak point of a 44 is after cromolys and ctms. Try steering knuckles, ring and pinion, and steering components if you haven't gone hydro yet. 40s on Dana 44s =:rainbow: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

PizzILLA

yup thats what im gunna guess will happen... r&p and knuckles. i dont have full hydro yet SO some of the additional stresses of the hydro shouldnt apply to my vehicle yet. same with the axle shafts. if i stay open in the front, the cromolys should easily hold up to the extra leverage. i am now completely most definately painfully waiting for my atlas though, some of the breakage will be eliminated by the fact that ill have more control and have to gas and throttle through things less. throttle breaks stuff i found out... imagine that@!!

so does torque, dumbass  Also, you should beef up your steering box area, or that could become a major weak point.

PizzILLA
November 5th, 2005, 04:50 AM
naturally, though the torque factor is much less than the shock load factor. think about the difference between a detroit and an ARB... a spool and an open diff bouncing up, spinning a tire then grabbing back down... a breaker bar and a ratchet type socket

the steering box has no more stress that it can procure than it did before. it still has the same set up, and can create only the same amount of force on the steering linkage. if you are talking about... again... shock loading of the tires and feedback, then i agree that there is more stress on the steering components, though it is negligable since the steering box cannot CREATE more force onto the frame... if i were you, id be the one worried since you dont have a real fawking frame...

dumbass:thefinger

dumbass:thefingerWTF???? The more I read your posts P-Gay, the more I think you and DBXJ are the same person. Bottom line is that 40s on D44s =
:rainbow: Disco truck sh!t. If your wheelbase is anywhere near stock length with those tires = :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: The fact that you have handicapped your rig by taking the full throttle assault approach out of your wheeling options = :rainbow: :rainbow: :rainbow: I saw a D60 front in the for sale section. hey ive got an idea... i should have gone out with those guys including kairo(l) to hunter lake today... with the stock brand new durango and expedition. hmm.... challenging... perfect for my 40" tire test. maybe i can even wheel on a log...

the steering box has no more stress that it can procure than it did before. it still has the same set up, and can create only the same amount of force on the steering linkage.

I think that David is talking about the force AFTER the steering box being greater. Considering that you have larger, wider, heavier, more aggressive tires (not to mention the shitty scrub radius from those offset wheels) than before when they get bound up it is much more likely now that something will go :nuke: instead of the tires turning.

PizzILLA
November 7th, 2005, 10:24 PM
my tire scrub is out of control..... if i do change to a stronger pump or box the force would be greater but as is stands i cant crank the wheel hard enough when its stuck between anything in order to break anything frame or linkage related...

JUST RUN IT!!!!!!!
I only twisted one sector shaft and broke two other p/s boxes off my frame with my 40's :knokwood: before i went full hydro.

thank you mike!

damn straight im gunna run it, and im gunna have fun ripping my shiznit up too... finding the next weak point on my vehicle. i hope i make it to the twister run tomorow.....so brian finally 4 linked his front end and did full hydro on it... its about goddam time!

CANYON KRAWLER MIKE
November 12th, 2005, 08:34 AM
yep bryan is good to go.
and i was thinking sence you are going to run the stock box you should be running a brace on you p/s box.
Bryan ran a brace on his and it stood up for a long time with his 40's.
