Dana 30 was designed as a hybrid axle, that has similar to Dana 44 outers with a smaller sized center diff. look at Bronco Dana 44 front, for example, it came with 260x u-joints, while mine has 760x (297x) joints. which is stronger? design of the outer knuckle doesn't define a model of the axle, my Dana 44 is a Dana 44.

I would pick denis' jeep over yous anyday, why,because he has an auto and his junk isn't always holding everybody else up because it is underbuilt. As for the web wheeling thing, I know, it is true, but I don't like to go out unprepared. After I brace my sliders, life will be much better.

your right about having not enough gearing, i do not deny it, BUT at the same time, i wheel enough to figure out how to actually take a moment and find a line. my vehicle unfortunately does not wheel itself yet, but if you actually went out and wheeled sometime with me and my buddies, youd notice that there is a little more to wheeling than just having a vehicle with lower gears and a front locker.

there is little that i cannot do without having a front locker and a 4 to 1 case . i can get through and up on anything that those 2 can, it just takes a couple extra moments of thought and line picking.

you dont even break stuff. you dont wheel enough to know what YOU personally need on your rig. try doing this stuff so that you can see first hand what to do and how to fix a broken front suspension... its good information for you to know for the next time you and your hardcore built rig goes to the rubicon with your buddies and one of them breaks.... use your noodle once in a while. ask any of the real hardcore guys you know something this simple.... how long did you wheel the piss out of a stock rig to get to where you are right now?

i always back up my shiit, and ive never backed down from a challenge. i did infact show up for the challenge. i told throttle in exact words "i believe that ill be out there in the afternoon, since its the earliest i can make it" on the phone.

i was there exactly when i said i would. i have showed up for every other wheeling trip i ever said id go on. i bend over backwords infact to get my shiit fixed to get there. thats exactly why i was replacing a front axle shaft u joint at 7:30 om on saturday, 20 minutes before going wheeling with everyone on twister.

how about some wheeling experience to back up your rig... what happens when you have this vehicle that has tha capability of traversing any trail, yet your driving skills are soo weak from lack of seat time, you cant operate your vehicle through the same obstacle that some punk next you just laughed his way through in a half as built rig, though he wheels every weekend??

i know a lot of peop like that who spend no where near enough time wheeling. your one of them. no experience, but a rig that otherwise would work great

I have to agree with pizza,seat time means more than a better rig when it comes to trail runs.This not being directed at any one person,no matter how afraid you are of people talking sh!t about your driving if you keep doing it eventually you'll surpass them on driving skills....most of the time depending on how much common sense you have!:yes: :D

lets see ... shiit i had.. owned the vehicle for about 9 months after buying it COMPLETELY stock, had stock axles, [no] gearing, [3"]suspension, [bald]33's, open completely front and rear.. hard top and doors on... hmmm

Thank you for making my point for me Tony. Are people here to believe that you have learned everything there is about fourwheeling in the last year? If you think that there is "little that i cannot do without having a front locker" then I would have to say that you still have a lot to learn about fourwheeling. If you are bragging about blowing up a Dana 35 and think that you can run a TJ suspension without a track bar, then you still have a lot to learn. If you think that chromoly axles and CTMs are more important than low gearing and a front locker then you still have a lot to learn.

Tony I respect that you built your own suspension, set up your own gears, and managed to squeeze 40s under your daily driver. I'll also admit that you do a lot more wheeling than most of the people on this board and you wheel more often than I do right now. You've even had a good sense of humor when people give you a hard time and roll with the punches, most people wouldn't handle it as well as you do.

It is the know-it-all attitude that I can do without. You talk **** about guys going on Hunter Lake but you need to remember that was you not too long ago.

im sorry if i came across that way. to ya durrrdy harry. i think that the core arguement goes as far deep as the divide between hardcore and sorftcore wheelin. i used to get my kicks out of blasting up peavine, but why would i want to do that when i have the experience and vehicle capable of doing trails more challenging?

ive said it a million times before on here, i give my best advice to anyone who asks for it, ill lend a hand or a tool whenever need be.

I was definately very green not too long ago, which makes sense. my vehicle is set up completely different than it used to be, ive had the opportunity to watch others drive other vehicles. i know what a low t case feels like and i know what a front locker feels like to have. your shiitting yourself if you think that there are places you simply cannot go with these hinderances. my enduring philosophy on my vehicle's building style is still upgrade what breaks. an open front end will be much more up to the task of pushing 40's if it has cromo's and strong u joints. the locker will add stress to the setup since it....... pushes the tire no matter what. open's transfer power to the wheel with the least resistance. shock loading and unloading from wheel hops is about the only thing that could possibly shatter the setup. im in no way saying that this is a bulletproof setup. what I AM SAYING is that i will be more likely able to make this setup survive until i find the funds and time to swap these axles out and start again with 2 new ones.

my TJ suspension works WAY better after having eliminated track bars, btw.
