CHEAP JEEP CRAWLER!!!

the time has come to sell the Manche :(. i just have too much on my plate with 3 vehicles. i would like to start on the 'cruiser and to do that, i need to empty the garage.........so the Manche's gotta go. it does not ahve current smog since i never intended to register it and planned on towing it. plus, it isn't very nice to drive on the street. this truck is great off road. it runs well and is a great crawler.

things wrong with it:
a small oil leak from the rear main seal and the tranny leaks a little bit of ATF when on steep inclines (new RTV will fix it).

specs:

*90 Jeep Comanche
*4.0L
*GM dana 44 front, lock-right, BTF diff cover
*12B rear, welded, BTF cover
*37" MTRs on 17" steelies (tires are worn pretty good but still hook up well)
*dana 300 w/twin-sticks
*AW4 tranny with AWshifting dial shifter and TC lockup switch
*tube bed with tool box, flatbed, and a decent sized box under the bed with enough room for camp gear, cooler, etc.
*heavy duty steering a la SamCo
*optima red top
*new fuel pump and gas tank
*on board air

i paid $3000 for it and since i bought it i've put about $800 in it: battery, manual hubs, brand new fuel pump and XJ gas tank, BTF cover.

i would like to get $2500 for it. i really don't want to go any lower than that. this is a great price for a built crawler, i doubt you could build a rig as capable as this Jeep for less than $2500. but i really need this gone ASAP so i'm open to offers.

yup. exactly. but i might have the Rockape bling it out for me. i'd like a FJ40 light bezel and hood :thbling: and i would need some more toob for over the rear seat since i'll be using a 2 seater chassis. i hear that Rockape guy can bend da toob like a sonofabitch :biggrin: .

i really didn't wheel the comanche that much while i had it.....but it was enough to figure out what kinds of things i would want and need in a new rig (i.e.---occupant protection, decent tires, good axles, SHOCKS!!!, and other things). so yes, it will get shocks....maybe if i have enough $$$ some king reservoir 2.0's might be in order.....should i ever feel the need to jump the f-toy. :buttkick:

What are you going to tow a formula toy with??? I wouldn't think that the Xterra is up for it and I'd be very surprised if you could get one of those registered. Might be able to register a Toyota pickup though and then turn it in to an F Toy afterwards though.

I'd think the only way you are going to stay under $10k is if you do all the work yourself too, labor is expensive. Perhaps you should consider selling that FJ-40 to someone who will restore and appreciate it.

i'll worry about the tow rig when the time comes........ but i will have one before it's all completed. i've seen at least two Ftoys registered........unsure as to how they did it, though.

i would be doing all the work. i just need a little bit of toob bent up since i lack a bender, but besides that........it's just me working on this. no selling the LC........it's time will come :rolleyes:
