WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO PYRAMID LAKE RIGHT BEFORE YOU GET TO THE FIRST STORE ON THE LEFT,THERE IS A CATTLE GUARD(.5 OF A MILE BEFORE THE STORE)TAKE A LEFT OFF OF THAT FOLLOW THE DIRT ROAD ABOUT 2-3 MILES IT WILL Y OFF GO LEFT EVENTUALLY YOU WILL DROP INTO A DRY CREEK BED,THIS IS STEVES LOOP THERE IS ONLY A SECTION ABOUT 200 YARDS LONG THAT IS CHALLENGING(AT LEAST FOR 33s AND A REAR LOCKER)!!!!
BUT I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU(THE UNIC-BOMBER)AND YOUR NEW NISSAN GO AND PUT SOME NEW DENTS IN THE DOOR THERE!!!

just after the rocky spot, turn left into the wash. fallow it to the end and come out to the right. if thats not been smoothed over it could add some adventure. (insert mullet smilie here )

haha, SL is easy after ya do it, but for the newB its a challenge. thats why Summit selected it as an alternate run to Bronco Canyon. The spring runoff was not kind to the trail this year and its more rutted than ever, especially on the switchbacks out above the 2ed waterall. Still, no real issues there. The wind caves over the saddle are worth a visit-- no serious crawling, but a good general trail ride. Here is the lower sluice last spring.

I agree that it is a good general trail and the views from the top of the mountain make it worthwhile. It is close to town and a nice place to go if you want to get your dirt fix in a mild rig or take your lunch and do an afternoon run or something.

Tim wasn't in the lead, but he did make a good sjhow burying the 1964 FJ45LV in the summit mud pit. Here we go...whee! Too bad the rev limiter kicked in too soon. That LS1 is nice for street but not the most trail friendly motor. I was riding shotgun and the old lady snapped this. 'Wild' Bill from Reno Jeepers w/ the big red CJ7 was our back seat dog.
