Well last week I finally made my first Rubicon run. It was a blast. B2Krawler and I left thursday afternoon and headed to loon lake to meet with everyone. We camped down below the damn for 2 days. Friday was a work day where all of B2krawlers rigs were gone through and wrenched on. Friday people started showing up for our run. The trail was way crowded. We headed out sat morning around 8:30 am and went at it all day. We didnt get to the springs until 10pm. Took us a long day due to the cj 5 and fj40 running hot along with the usual asshats that were holding everyone up. Sunday was a recovery day at Sids Grave.
$280 in groceries and alcohol

The granite bowl. Notice the ford ranger on 31's. He did great and as far as I know he completed the trail

Talked B2krawler into letting me get my hands on his rig

Made it to the sluice and this toy was having a bad broken day

B2 pondering if he is gonna let me drive his rig in the sluice, the toy made him say no.

This guy we met on the trail and he told us he is a self proclaimed genius when it comes to building 4x4's. Here is trying the sluice and getting denied

After the sluice we were on our way to buck and came across some trail tit. Apparantly we just missed them skinny dippen at buck:fight:

Sunday was a work day on the rigs. The cj5 broke its steering rag joint. So we made a new one.

We left bright and early monday morning just to run into the guys doing a press release on the 07 rubicons. I had to say I am impressed with the way they handled cadillac.

This is about as far up cadillac that the cj 5 made it
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/tahoewheelers/RubiconTrip08-24.jpg
He broke right after this then we got him running a bit further however he dropped his transmission bolts and he was drug all the way out to Tahoe City
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/tahoewheelers/RubiconTrip08-25.jpg
Got out of the trail and all the 07 guys were happy to see us

What I learned, the Rubicon is a tough trail on rigs. Have spare parts to make due with. Have Magiver (aka B2krawler around), bring more beer than expected.

Looks like a sweet trip. Think your gonna make Rockape mad with your boobie post again....I have run the Rubicon a few times, but probably wont again since there are too many ass hats and rangers now...loses all the fun. Plus its a trail that has more challenges in mystery than reality...first time thru I was puckered a lot...especially Cadillac hill...second time less so...Although it might be a new ball of wax with a foolsize and the group of crazies I hang with now....Someday youll get your jeep running and take it on the CON:pray:

Is this not a hardcore site? WTF you can post shit like this :thmasturbanana: :thspank: :cocksuck: :Lets_do_it_wild: :hump: :hardon: :thbananahump: :sure:
I didnt pucker at all, made the trail easy with 40's. Now in my rig, Id be praying not to break down like the other cj did. Now Im not sure that I want to go foolsize axles, once were in Tahoe we had to drive 2hrs back to Loon, hang for an hour, then drive 2 hrs back, then another hour 2 loyalton. Kind want my rig to be streetable.

Whats a matter Sierra you sound cranky.....you can post whatever you like just no clam shots...and ugly women.....I went thru the con the first time with my YJ and 33" swampers and lok rights front and rear...broke a ubolt for the spring about half way thru and lost my power steering pump...watching the video is annoying cause all you hear is eeereeeereeeer when I turn...I have heard with anything larger than like 38s the trail really losses its fear factor...i do not know haven't been on it in like six years....nice pics of the trip!

Im just way behind in work today due to the trip. Sucks taking time off to come back to deal with a bunch of bs. However, had $40k in sales waiting for me:biggrin:
I'd say anthing under 37s and its a tough trail.

Its not that hard the rubicons made it easily with 31's and lockers. There was very little rock rash on them and the drivers had never even wheeled before

THE 'CON IS A DIFFICULT TRAIL ONLY IN LEGEND. IT GAINED ITS REP BACK IN THE 50'S AND 60'S WHEN THE HOT SET UP WAS 31'S AND A LIMITED SLIP IN THE REAR. MY FIRST TIME THROUGH THE TRAIL, I DROVE MY CJ5 WITH A 2-INCH LIFT, STOCK GEARING,32 INCH ALL TERRAINS, AND OPEN DIFFS. THAT WAS A FUN AND CHALLENGING TRIP. I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT FROM THE TOP OF CADDY ALL THE WAY TO LOON. KINDA MAKES ME WANT TO BUILD A RETRO RIG ON 33'S.

I agree with both of you. So then this brings us to the next question, is fordyce harder than the Rubicon?
Im just happy to have gotten to see the Rubicon Trail finally. Now got to get Fordyce done. Hopefully hit it up for deer season this year.

I agree with both of you. So then this brings us to the next question, is fordyce harder than the Rubicon?FORDYCE IS PROBABLY CONSIDERED SLIGHTLY HARDER THAN THE 'CON PROBABLY BECAUSE IT GETS LESS TRAFFIC AND SEES SLIGHTLY LESS xj nation TYPE ACTIVITY LIKE rock stacking. FORDYCE DOESN'T REALLY HAVE A PREMIER HARDCORE OBSTACLE LIKE LITTLE SLUICE ON THE 'CON. LEFT LINE UP WINCH HILL ONE CAN BREAK YOU OFF AND THE LEFT OUT ON WINCH HILL THREE IS FUN (NO I AM NOT TALKIN' 'BOUT THE xj BYPASS BITCHES!!!!) BUT OTHER THAN THAT (AND SOME SECRET HARDCORE LINES
:jaw:) FORDYCE REALLY ISN'T THAT HARDCORE EITHER. WORD TO ANY NEWBIES: YOU CAN ONLY RUN FORDYCE DURING SIERRA TREK. THE WATER AT THE CREEK CROSSINGS IS IMPASSABLE AT ANY OTHER TIME OF YEAR!!!

ITS A GOOD THING YOUR JEEP WILL BE RUNNING BECAUSE SIERRA VALLEYS WILL STILL BE SITTING IN THE PLANTER BOX OUT FRONT OF MA'S HOUSE WAITING FOR THE MAGICAL AXLE FERRY TO COME BY AND FIX IT!!!!:laughat: :DSI: :gossip:
