what about El Chupacabra??? wasn't that like a 15 hr. trip through??? (or so i've heard)

I know of a few, but you are going to have to travel further than 150 miles!

Up in South Dakota they say that Jason Paule gets on his dirt bike with a 5 gallon can of gas strapped to the back and just rides all day looking for new canyons that could become trails. Then he comes back with his friends and their buggies to break them in. That is dedication!

I second that, it would take a long time to go through, and be a challenge. And it is closer than Bronco Canyon.

I WOULDN'T CALL WHAT I SAW OF THAT CANYON "IMPASSABLE". HAD NO PROBLEM DRIVING THE FLOPPER THROUGH THE UPPER SECTION. A LOCKED UP TOY AND A LOCKED WRANGLER BOTH ON 35'S DEFINITELY HAD A HARDER TIME AND SUFFERED SOME GOOD BODY DAMAGE. WE RAN OUT OF TIME AND DIDN'T RUN THE WHOLE THING BUT WHERE WE STOPPED THE CANYON GOT STEEPER AND THE ROCKS GOT BIGGER. THIS CANYON I'M SURE HAS GOT SOME OTHER NAME AND IS PROBABLY KNOWN BY SOME LOCALS. FINDING THIS PLACE IS SO OBVIOUS, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU CLOWNS HAVEN'T DRIVEN DOWN THE WASH JUST OUT OF CURIOUSITY ON YOUR WAY TO STEVES' LOOP 2 UHHHHHH I MEAN BRONCO CANYON. PATHETIC!!!!!!:fight:

There is a spot out here in Ferntucky, I have been there but there is no established road to it and it is a gorge in a ravine, I have been there on my quad, it's not very long, but it would definetely be a hell of a challenge...it's behind the truck inn and I can show you on a w/e if you'd like.. call me if you want to check it out... 232-7474... Found it when I was out riding and shooting a few years back...I'm sure I can find more in the surrounding areas....

your best bet, rockape, is to call up some people instead of posting it on the intranet.

the reservations that people have who know about new un-travelled canyons and trails, is that if too many people know about them, you will get little guys in stock tjs and xjs thinking they can stack rocks and dumb down the trail for themselves.

take any trail we have... any one... and think about how it was the FIRST time you wheeled it, and the LAST time you wheeled it..

big fawk difference.

'i know about trails, but your fucked if you think that im going to tell you about them if your running anything less than 40" tires on 1 ton axles' - seems to be the situation

no one wants to post up about this amazing canyon they found and is almost impassable no matter what kind of rig, with the threat of having stockers come along and fuck it up. too many of the reno4xj mall crawlers will think they can drive though it just like they think they can drive through twister.

2 weeks ago i got a call from 4x4babe late on a friday nite, asking me to help her friend who she was riding with, get out of budweiser, because they broke.

i went home, got my jeep, pulled up to bud canyon, to find 1 idiot on a square tube fendered, 33" tire'd yj high centered on rock that was less than one foot out of the ground...... he was trying to come and rescue the guy who 4x4 babe was with!!!!

i get up to the next rig after un-stuck-ing the hill billy... only to find A CHEROKEE ON 33" TIRES, NO LOCKERS AND STOCK MUTHA UFFIN STEERING BROKEN IN HALF.....RIGHT AT THE FIRST WATERFALL

i shit my pants wondering WHAT THE FUCK WERE THESE IDIOTS trying to do???

wheel bud canyon??? christ...

after spending 2 hours extracting these 2 idiots from the BEGINNING of bud canyon, i can fawking see why no one ever wants to tell anyone about anything new they discovered.

Jibs thinks he can make it through Bud. I agree about things getting stacked up and easier, you are right Tony. I don't blame people for not wanting to share their trail secrets. Fortunately Mother Nature usually unstacks the rocks in the winter. A friend of mine who drove Twister years ago said that before the fire and subsequent sand filling in the valley the trail was WAY harder in spots that are just a sand wash now.

Talk to Brian (NoBrainR on Pirate or Reno4x4), he used to live in Winemucca and had some really good canyons out there that few people have run. Elko has some great rockcrawling trails too. Petersen's stopped there this year on their Ultimate Adventure and I heard that the trail was tough on anyone with smaller than 38s.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/cuedel/BroncoCanyon4-8-6060.jpgI THOUGHT THAT WAS BRONCO CANYON MY FIRST TIME OUT THERE. THE ENTRANCE (AT LEAST INTO THE TOP OF THAT CANYON) IS RIDICULOUSLY EASY TO FIND. SUPPOSEDLY THERE IS AN ENTRANCE INTO THE BOTTOM END. I LOOKED FOR IT BUT NEVER FOUND ONE.

I didnt have time to hike down to it the last time I was out there .... Just thought it looked pretty good from my vantage point.

Now that I think of it. Ive been wanting to check out some areas that are off of the Mustang/Tracey exits. Im willing to bet that there is some kewl trails on the North side of I-80 .... up behind the Junk yard and surrounding areas.

Id prolly make my way out there only to find out its all private land Im sure.

Anyone have any 1st hand knowledge these areas?

Not all the way, the trail turns into just a dirt road for awhile about 500 yards down. We turned around there. Not sure whats at the begining of the trail, could be good???

Not sure whats at the begining of the trail, could be good???I DON'T REMEMBER ANY DIRT ROAD SECTIONS ONCE YOU DROP INTO THE WASH, BUT IT HAS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I WENT DOWN THERE. IT DOES GET MORE DIFFICULT THE FURTHER YOU DRIVE IN. I HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM ANYBODY WHO HAS DONE THE WHOLE THING. IF ANYONE HAS MADE IT ALL THE WAY DOWN, SPEAK UP, INQUIRING NIGGAZ WANNA KNOW.

u can take ur FS all the way to the entrance (or top exit via the powerline road) of BC. The short-cut to get to the trail head is no more thanks to the security folks w/ TRW, so now its a 10 mile go-around via largomasino canyon. BC itself is shorter than Bud and can be hiked in minutes. so why not go, just think twice about getting ur nice FS into the wild stuff.

well the part of bronco they are going to try is not going to be fullsize friendly...and especially right now with all the trees out in that area, he would scratch that truck up before he even gets to the trail head...just my

went scouting today for bird hunting, went up behind vista, up where the new homes are being built (d'andrea) I believe, has anyone else been up in that area ??? tons of dry cheat grass, and some steep ravines and canyons <all untouched> could be some good spots but since there's no established roads could be some legal issues ??? I am about treading lightly... and do not want to loose more hunting lands and access to them... but eyed some good areas... not necessarily "HARDCORE" but I'm sure there's some tucked away and hidden ...we followed some powerline roads and some trails that branched off and ended up being quad trails (whoops)... just nervous about the legalities and potential fire hazzard, it is a huge tinderbox....but did see a bunch of whitetail doves.... and a small covey of quail....
