I CALLED PSC TODAY FOR A POWER STEERING PUMP FOR MY BUGGY(SINCE I HAD A LITTLE ACCIDENT LAST WEEKEND) AND THEY TELL ME I NEED TO UPGRADE TO A 1400 SERIES PUMP/RES. KIT!!!THEN HE SAYS THE KIT IS $368.50:eek: AND TO IMPROVE MY LOW SPEED PERFORMANCE ANOTHER $50 FOR A DIFFERENT PULLEY!!! I THINK IM GONNA BITE THE BULLET AND GIVE THEM A TRY SINCE I HAVE BEEN A BIT LOW ON ASSIST A IDLE.

wow....

my PS pump gave up the ghost about 3 weeks ago. i just did a stock replacement, though- and added a bigger cooler. the one i replaced had 107k miles on it... so it probably wasnt that big a surprise.. it would be nice to have a PSC pump and a different pulley.. but i just dont see the need to spend that extra $300+50 just to get that... i have had ZERO problems, up to that point.. it has always worked very well at all engine speeds

mmmmmhmm...

thats EXACTLY how mine ended up giving up!! THOSE GODDAM FRONT BURNS ARE SOO ADDICTIVE. i was burning out in the dirt lot next to the 7-11 in spanish springs with some friends late one night... i did like a 2 minute burn, then realized that my steering was totally not happy- for a minute it wouldnt even do anything other than squeal, locked up!!

Are you going to do them like Fred Flintstone since you don't have an engine? And don't try them once you get that 360 in, your Dana 30 won't like you very much! :fight:

Your warranty is up for even mentioning doing that with a low pinion 30 with a lockrite:shitfan:

Rockape, you could always do just the pulley to get the low speed flow, and try the pump if that dosent work. I dont think pure/full hydro needs the flow that the ram assist setups need. Mabye you could drill out the fitting on the back a bit if that does not do it, I think that increases the low speed flow without increasing the pressure. I dont like any of the pressure increase homebrew mods. Also make sure the ID of your pressure and return lines (as well as the cooler) dont cause any restrictions.

Howe, PSC and Tom Lee are the best steering places by far. I have heard and seen too many sketchy things from AGR and the "redneck ram"

MY ORBITAL IS ONLY 2 1/4 TURNS LOCK TO LOCK!!!SO WHEN I GET IT IN A BIND IT REALLY IS A BIATCH TO STEER!!!MY ORIGINAL PUMP WAS DRILLED,PRESSURE RAISED,AND MODDED FOR MORE IDLE FLOW!!!PSC CLAIMS THAT THE 1400 SERIES PUMP WILL FLOW BETTER AT IDLE(THAN THE CURRENT 1300) WITHOUT AS MUCH HEAT PRODUCTION,SINCE IT HAS LARGER INTERNALS.ILL TRY IT,AND MAYBE IT WILL INCREASE MY TURNING POWER!!!(THEY CLAIM IT WILL)
