I actually just priced the tube I didn’t buy any. I'm going to need DOM and enough tube to do my cage post X-mas so I'll definitely buy from ya.
Can you get Hiem joints and weld in bungs too? I may need to make a new draglink until I can highsteer this summer.

Does that actually count as plate or is it sheetmetal :laughat:
1/4" plate@.25" = 2 GA
3/16" plate@.18" = 7 GA
1/8" plate@.12" = 11GA

Apparently you do.
So that 3/16 plate actually works on your Jeeps? What about when you weld it in? How thick of a base are you welding it to? Are you using it to limit heat to your frame because of brittleness or something?

3/16s WILL GET THE JOB DONE IN MOST SITUATIONS!!!THE FIRST JEEP BUGGY I BUILT I USED IT FOR LINK TABS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM!!!!AS FAR AS MAKING THE FRAME BRITTLE???I HAVENT SEEN IT,BUT MOST FRAMES ARE ONLY 3/16THS THICK OR LESS!!!!

What kind of weight are they when done?
I'm going to try and get my Scout800 lite as I can, but I know I wont be as lite as a Jeep. My drive train is going to be 768#+240#+140=1148#ish alone. So I'm hoping for 3500# or less. We'll see in a few weeks how much fat I can trim.
1/4 is about the thinest I'll use and 3/8 for anything structural.

Your 3500 pound goal ain't gonna happen with that heavy drivetrain and using thick material. Where are you planning on trimming weight to meet your goal?

Doors, Top, Bed, Glass, some frame. I have built D44 thats getting welded rear, some damn locker in the front and 38's.
The Scout 80/800 are smaller than the ScoutII so by going with that starting rig I'm already saving a bunch. I also have a trick in mind for panels and top, cant tell since I'm going to try and patent it. Leaf springs are ScoutII 4" lift and I may take some of the packs out depending.
I'm using the drive train since I have it but I'll eventually drop the IHC drive train all together and save a few hundred pounds and get FI.
I'm going to try and hit my goal but until I get my shit together and build the thing I'm just web-wheeling and spewing from my mouth.

3/16" plate is for the bed sides of the Mog, the floor for the bed is 1/4"
(which I already have). The fact still stands METAL MASTERS BLOWS:cocksuck: :cocksuck: :cocksuck: :cocksuck:

Well the 3/8 has worked for my spring mounts and stuff before no fail, I've seen 1/4 tear/bend all to shit. I'm not going to box the frame or anything with it.

Sheet you dont know me son! I can fab/do anything.............as long as I'm web wheeling and not actually having to show or weigh anything :clown:
It will most likely not hit the 3500# goal right off the bat, If I get it at 4000# at first then I can start looking at how to get it closer to my goal down the road. I've never tried to go for weight before on a build so it's going to be a learning experience.
And BTW: Holy shit we've got a ton of smilies. My favorite----> :whack:

I will be surprised if you even make 4000#. Scouts are HEAVY vehicles, and even if you remove the top and doors when you add 38" Swampers and a bunch of 3/8" plate you are going to add it right back in. Are you going to have a winch? Add steel wheels? What kind of seats? Carry any spares? Stock fuel tank? If you are building for weight (which is a good idea IMO) you need to consider EVERYTHING you are adding to your vehicle. I don't see the point in running a 768 pound engine (my whole drivetrain weighs that much!!!) and then trying to shave pounds by ditching the glass.

Are you going to have a winch?
Not until after X-mas
Add steel wheels?
Yup, real beadlocks
What kind of seats?
Not sure yet. I have some Toy PU ones I may use until the budget gets bigger, then I'll go to plastic or alluminum.
Stock fuel tank?
16gal fuel cell
Carry any spares?
Going for empty weight first
and then trying to shave pounds by ditching the glass
Well the bullet holes kinda made my mind up there :Big Grin:

LOL! I don't know if you have the wheels yet but I'd consider aluminum beadlocks. I have forged Alcoas, they are about as light as you can get. I've heard that the IROKs are considerably lighter than TSLs or particularly Boggers and SXs. Other stuff like synthetic winch line and a winch like the M8000 (instead of an 8274) will help save weight too. I really curious to see how Teraflex's new carbon fiber leaf springs hold up, that could be a big weight savings. I like to keep my truck as light as possible also.

Well shipping weight of a stock 800 was around 3600# with the V8. The drivetrain I'm putting in should be about 250# heavier so almost 3900#. The Hardtop is around 150#, tailgate 45#, doors 40# each, and glass 25#. The springs and axels shouldnt really change the weight much. The 38s will though, since stock was like 28x9R15.
So start with 3900# subtract 300#, puts me at 3600# without tires and most of the sheetmetal on the rig. So say 40# a tire/wheel for the old ones thats 160# off the weight of the new ones. I cant seem to find the weight on 4 38X12.5R15 TSL Bias. Think 110# is fair each? So 440#-160#=280# extra for a total of 3880# So I think I can shave another 200# of misc. metal off of her to get it in the ball park.
At least thats my reasoning...I guess we'll see.

How much does the cow weigh VS Swampers? I'm not digging that aproach angle however. Whats the tread life like on that thing? Would firecrackers in the bovine's anus work like a turbo?
