Well I'd been thinking about doing this for some time now and finally just went out and did it. I need to trim the rear fenders still, finish the traction bar, extend the rear brakeline and make a bumpstop for the pumpkin. Just little things. Here are a few pics and I like the 8" I got out of it. My XJ is now at 113" wb.
*****I'd put up more pics but it seems I've exceeded my pic quota:rolleyes: *****

FarmerMatt over on NAXJA ran flipped nationals on his CAT buggy, and I seem to recall that he was not happy with the results (bad axle wrap i believe...). He ended up linking it.
And if that tape line is your cut line, I say don't do it. IMHO you should run it level and turn it down more like the stock opening. And since you have to play around with the wheel opening anyway, now would be a good time to make room for some coilovers or airshocks - for when you decide that you really need links back there...

I'm expecting mad axle wrap issues that's why I'm finishing the traction bar now. Hopefully that will help keep it in check. The tape line was just a thought, whatever I do I'll end up tubing in the inner fenders so I have lots of room to play with it. I'd love airshocks or coilovers but the bling costs $$$ I don't have.
Here's a link to more and better pics
