and here is the response....learn to read

I don't have good pics of the rear suspension, but I could take some and email them to you.
The hyd cyl is hooked to an accumulator from an airplane to make a remote res shock. It has an adjustable valve for dampening and I change the charge pressure to control firmness. It works well.
The first pic is the current setup. It has leaf springs standing up to control the roll.
Thanks for looking,
Rocky

yea you're right, only a tard would think to PM the guy about the hyd. cyl first instead of opening my dumb ass mouth like you did and ask others opinions on a different board.

Hehehe Honey-Do's have been fuckn with my wrenching time. I better get on it I see :Big Grin: My best friend from Biomedical School is here TDY at Herlong for a week so I've been drinking alot of beer too.

The 1 link setup is great for mud trucks but the flex isnt all that. All of the links tie into one mount and into two trailer hitch balls. I'm guessing thats my he didnt set the front up on the same ball. So rear flex is ok but the front can still get it a bit. Plus these setups are beefy and heavy. Really I dont see the advantage of it over a 4 link.

I guess the only real advantage is that you have to buy a lot fewer Joints/misalignment spacers, link mounts, etc.

One huge negative I can see is that if one part fails, you are completely screwed. I guess the same could be said for a tri link as well though...

As far as performance goes, I don't know jack about setting up a proper link setup, maybe Sambo or rockape will chime in :)

Well thats part of it Sauce. You only have 1 heim joint, its a big bastard as well. Its cheap, pretty simple (if you b2krawler), and its strong. He will be doing this supsension again in several weeks front and rear. So I will get some pics and do a write-up on the 1-link!

And it really does flex well...

alright smarty pants, so if this is such a badass suspension, why don't you educate me on the finer points of roll, dive, rear steer, etc. How does this compare to a wishbone style 4 link vs. a traditional 4 link vs a 3 link with panhard vs every other type of suspension! Flex is overrated, theoretical stuff is a good starting point though. Maybe someone with actual knowledge will make an idiots guide to link suspension for us link retards!

Wasnt claiming to be a know it all. Just stating what I know from what Shawn has told me about this particular supsension.

The basic principle behind these limits flex. The solo link mount is built under the center of the rig limiting the possible amount of flex with seriously beefy links. Now the two main links on a 3 or 4 link setup are mounted around where the rear of a leaf spring would be and have 1/2 or more of the vehicle length between the front and rear mounts.

The design also leaves alot more of the system exposed to rock damage and limits clearance.

Thats why I said I feel they are really only good for mud trucks.

I know i'm late but check out wheelingarizon.com there is a few guys running the one link and it works great for them. they get great flex to.there names are toyman and bertha, and rockncj8
