BIG BLUE
January 15th, 2007, 11:45 AM
Just got this email from another group. posted for your FYI!
NorCalTTORA is proud to announce our next run will be held on January
19-21, 2007 at Moonrocks, NV. Moonrocks is located North of Reno, NV
approximately 30 minutes or so. Moonrocks is in the middle of the
desert, so there is everything from dirt roads to competition style
rock crawling obstacles...Everything is optional.
Moonrocks '07 thread can be found here...be forewarned, it is LONG and
full of a lot of off-topic nonsense:

Here are some galleries of past Moonrocks trips:

Directions:
>From Reno, head north on Hwy 445 towards Pyramid Lake. Drive about 15
miles. Look for Winnemucca Ranch Road on the left. Drive six miles and
you'll see Moonrocks on the left. Turn left on the dirt road labeled
Happy Valley OHV area and drive another mile.
You will see this sign....now you KNOW your in the right area!

Here are the GPS coordinates and a USGS area photo:

We will probably be running the Canyon Loop trail on Saturday. This
trail has gotten more difficult, and sliders are highly recommended
unless you don't mind a little body damage...as well as a locker and
33's...its hard to know for sure how difficult it currently is, the
trail has changed over the last few years. This is an optional
trail...as is everything in Moonrocks. If you don't feel confident,
you can probably find someone to ride along with.
Canyon Loop trail map can be found here: (thanks Dean!)

There will be a group leaving Concord around 5pm on Friday evening the
21st. There are also people meeting up in Sacramento Friday evening
as well.
Since Moonrocks is in the desert....there is no firewood readily
available. If you have any way of acquiring and bringing firewood,
PLEASE do so. You can never have too much wood. :) It does get
pretty darn cold at night also.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me, or post up in the
Moonrocks thread....
Hope to see you all there!
