:( Sold the latest cruiser. :D You know what they say about rigs being "Done". So it was time to move on.
I'm looking to build a lightweight, high horse power buggy. Probably a 4.3 vortec, auto, atlas, toyota axles. :D:D

I'm not totally sold on that motor. Depends on what I find. Ideal set up would be a TBI SBC. I'm really leaning towards a buggy. But would have to be a budget build. Less than 7 grand tops. Which is totally do able I think. Just need the time to do it.

I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE TO BEG, BORROW OR STEAL TO BUILD A BUGGY THAT CHEAP!!!MY TWO SEATER ISNT ANYTHING SPECIAL AND IT COST ME AT LEAST 13K IN PARTS TO BUILD!!!!GRANTED YOU DONT NEED WALKER EVANS BEADLOCKS OR RED LABEL KRAWLERS BUT YOU MIGHT JUST WANT THEM!!!!I KNOW A TBI SBC WOULD HAVE BEEN WAY CHEAPER THAN THE 1999 VORTEC 4.3(HARNESS AND ECU COST MORE THAN THE ENGINE!!!):frown:
I WOULD KEEP MY EYES OPEN FOR AN UNFINISHED PROJECT!!!THAT IS HOW YOU CAN WHEEL WITH GOOD EQUIPMENT AND YOU WERE STILL ABLE TO PERSONALIZE IT BECAUSE YOU FINISHED IT!!!!!

I like the idea of a 4.3
Decent power numbers for a light weight rig.
But someone made a good point about a TBI SBC, that is going to cost a hell of a lot less than a 4.3 unless you can find one out of a wrecked truck.

not true........4.3s can be had for fairly cheap........i got my vortec 4.3L for $650 with EVERYTHING minus the tranny. all i have to do is get the ecu remapped for more hp and to delete the smog shit, but that's only like 4-500 bucks (so i'm told). i say go with a v6

I THINK A V6 WOULD BE PERFECT, PLENTY OF POWER FOR A BUGGY AND LIGHT WEIGHT (WEIGHT IS CRITICAL) 350 A/T, IF YOU FABRICATE THE CHASSY YOURSELF YOU WILL SAVE A TON OF MONEY, THE ONLY THING I DONT AGGREE ON IS THE TOYOTA AXLES IF YOU USE THEM YOULL REGRET IT MARK MY WORDS. ITS EXPENSIVE BUT DANA 60 IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO FOR A BUGGY THAT WONT QUIT ON YOU WHEN YOU NEED IT THE MOST AND NOT MANY OTHER PPL WILL BE ABLE TO DO WHAT YOU CAN :-)

OH AND DONT FORGET YOUR COIL OVERS AND 40" CRAWLERS W/ BEADLOCKS.
GEEEE DID YOU SAY $7000.00 ? HMMMMMM THE AXLES AND SHOCKS WILL COST YOU MORE THEN THAT, YOU BETTER DIG DEEPER INTO YER POCKETS HEHEHE AND LOOK FER ABOUT $10,000.00 MORE WASHINGTONS.

well it sounds like he is at the cross roads (we all been there)at some point (if you stay w/ it) you have to throw away anything that says car/truck/suv oh and cheep er jeep lol. I think he is making a good move but he needs deeper pockets is all. body and chassy parts that is.

hahaha Do I regret selling the cruiser? Ya, but at the same time I would have regretted cutting up a perfectly good rig.
The 4 runner I bought to help me get my wheelin bug out while I start on a chassis has tought me a few things.
- I need more horsepower. Small block, is a must.
- 1/2 ton shit, toyota axles ain't NEVER gonna hold up to my driving style. LOL :D
- Me and body panels, we don't get along.
Current plan is to sell my house, get into a new one, and then off the 4runner. In one piece hopefully, if not part it out. And then fully get it on the buggy. I have a Dana 60/70 Combo hooked up. Links are hooked up, EVO joints on order. :D I'll keep collecting parts in the mean time. Once I get this house sold I can move on to the buggy.

Damn Chris, you go through some rigs. Im still bummed I never got to finish the chassis I got from you!!! Hit me up sometime if you want to wheel my big bitch, you can try out the 4.3 and it has something slightly larger than toyota axles!!!
