Alright my issue is with my fuel filter. Now to start out my jeep's a TJ I've pulled my tank out from under the tub and it now sits in where my back seat use to so access to it is easy. My question is can I possibly take the (what I think is the small pancake filter on the bottom of the fuel sending unit) off and put an inline filter on, or would it be more of a pain than it's worth. I'd like to do a fuel cell with all the fixins but I can't afford it at this time so this is the next idea I've had. Any and all help would be helpful.

Thanks.

OK, SO WHY NOT EXPLANE TO HIM THE SOCK IS NOT THE FILTER, IT'S JUST A SRAINER. IF HE'S HAVING OTHER FUEL PROBLEMS HE NEEDS TO FIND WHERE THE FILTER REALY IS AND CHANGE IT.

Yes it's the in tank filter that's giving me hell at least that's the only thing that I can think of. I would just change the filter but I'm told that I have to buy the whole sending unit which comes out to almost 200. I'm looking at just removing the old filter and then cutting in an inline filter right after the tank.

ALL IT IS,IS A PLASTIC SOCK,IF ITS PLUGGED YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CLEAN IT WITH SOME BRAKE CLEAN.I HATE TO TRY TO RE-ENGINEER WHAT THE FACTORY DID.ON MY YJ THERE IS A SOCK AS WELL AS A FUEL FITLER ON THE FRAME RAIL.

THE SOCK IT TO PROTECT THE FUEL PUMP FROM PICKING UP ANYTHING AND DAMAGING IT!!!I WOULD REMOVE AND INSPECT IT.UNLESS ITS UNCLEANABLE I WOULD LEAVE IT!!!
