Figure I would post up my shit here since this is where all the cool kids hang out

Started with a Polyperformance 4 link kit in the rear and bought some used 3" Skyjacker springs from Samco, added a truss from TNT Customs and cut the frame so the springs would have enough room, will add some rectangular tubing to top of frame to strengthen the area above the cut.

SO WHEN ARE YOU DOING THE FRONT???AND YOU KNOW YOUR NOT INVITED RO ANY MORE RENO XJ RUNS???

Dnmeistr

I decided not to do the 3 link, I want to get the Jeep finished and I will save the front for another project. I still have to buy a fuel cell, plumb the lines, rear LED's, mount the seats and 5 point harness, add an X behind the seats and get the motor running.

do you have shocks mounted???

Dnmeistr
September 17th, 2007, 09:00 PM
No, but I have a set of Rancho 9012's that I am going to use. Just trying to decide where and how I am going to mount the upper shock mount, probably just bend some 1.75 and mount to top of frame with shock mounted outside of frame and agled forward.

Didn't like the first shoulder bar so I made some changes and bent the ends up to give more clearance behind the seats. Also note to self Bend Tech Assembly uses center dimensions, the piece I bent came up a little short   So I had to cut it and lengthen it, sleeved with a 8" piece of 1.5" tube.

Went from this

IS THAT POOP PIPE???AND I THINK YOU MIGHT WANNA GO SLIGHTLY LOWER WITH IT......BECAUSE AS FAR AS I KNOW THE RANGE IS STRAIGHT BEHIND YOU SHOULDERS OR UP TO FOUR INCHES LOWER!!!!

Dnmeistr
September 21st, 2007, 06:51 PM
It may look like poop pipe  but it isn't, just been sitting outside for awhile, it is 1.75" DOM tubing. The height of the bar is directly behind the slots in the seats and my shoulders are higher than that about even with the middle of the straps.

Another cluster $%&@, cutting the holes for my flush mount LED's figured I would whip out the plasma cutter. I need a 4.5" hole so I set my radius to 2.5" oops by using some flat plate drilling a center hole and then a hole for the plasma cutter. Surprise the hole came out to 5"

So this is my quick and easy fix, took some 1/4" all thread and tacked it into place

All better now :Big Grin:

Sorry didn't see this post, the corners are from GenRight http://www.genright.com/ they have a better price than PS and I think they look better instead of the more agressive comp cut of PS. You could look at TnT as well http://www.tntcustoms.com/webV5/default.asp I really like there phantom front fenders, genright is making the same style also.

Hey whats wrong with my rear bumper, actually I am seriously considering doing this http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7883901&postcount=361 and then carry some rectangular tubing straight out and then weld a bumper out of something like 2x4. Have to see what they come up with.

YA, thanks for the quick reply!! I ended up getting the same ones, seem pretty beefy and the price was better than ps. I also got the gen right tube fenders. Dont remember what I paid but it was pretty good, I think...There are some pictures on my build thread.

Yours looks good, how did you calc. your link lengths? Where did your wheel base end up at?

Dnmeistr
February 16th, 2008, 01:28 AM
I purchased the kit from polyperformance set the axle where I wanted it and placed the brackets as far up the frame as I could get them butted up against the skid plate. I think the wheelbase is around 108, I was shooting for 10" stretch but then I would say well maybe just a little more :Big Grin:

Looks great Denny,

Is that the roll bar that came in it? or did you bend that front hoop?

and how did that Mopar EFI turnout?

Dnmeistr
February 16th, 2008, 11:04 AM
The roll cage came with the Jeep, and I haven't installed the FI yet, I want to see how this 2150 carb does on the trail.

Those are waggy springs on the front. Did I read on wixjp1 thread that you don't have a Jeep anymore

I still plan on using it, there are a few sensors missing as well as I will need a fuel pump.

So where are the final pics....

and did you go with this http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Universal-4-Link-Weld-On-Rear-Kit-p-16802.html 4-link kit? Was it worth it...the price seems a little on the highside...but i guess if it is complete enough, it would be worth it.

:Big Grin:

Dnmeistr
April 30th, 2008, 05:06 PM
I haven't really gotten a chance to test it out on some hard climbs yet and if I was to do it again I would piece the kit together in hopes of saving some money, like you can get the tubing locally and save on shipping, the only real expensive parts in the kit are there 2 in 1 bracket that slide onto the frame for the upper and lower arms. but they are nice that you can dial in some adjustability. But everything flexes out nice and nothing hits.
