Trying to get an idea of how much money I am going to have to set aside for my truggy project and looking to ask those who know.
I will also be seeking help too when the time comes. How much beer is required to be consindered payment?
Anyway
I am putting rocks under my fullsize chev
I am still debating suspensions
I am kinda leaning towards a 3/4 eliptical in the rear, I like the idea of it more than anything else as I know little about them but I like unique. Of course I have given a lot of thought to 4 links but I dont know how expensive it will get or how to properly set it up.
The front will probably have to be a three link but I dred the idea of having to buy coil over shocks and I wonder how stable just coil springs will be.
I will be pinching the front end, maybe or just enclosing the engine in some sheet to keep in away from the elements.
The rear will be traditional truggy style, with the rad behind the cab and bla bla.
So, how much money am I looken at in link material and heims and shit like that.
I planned to have had all this started already but I got divorced and broken and had surgery and etc etc. so there have been some delays.

I have coils in the front also, and they work well beyond my expectations... I love them.....
I had price in mind as well when I built mine, and that is the reason I went with the way I did....Leaves are cheaper and simpler, but I absolutely love my coils and would never go back to leaves. I would say you are gonna spend 50-100 per 1 1/4 hiem depending on quality and then 30ish on 3/4's for the uppers. then about 15 bucks a foot on 2 inch 1/4 wall even tho I would recommend thinker than that... especially for rocks..... I would lean away from the 3/4 elliptical idea if i were you considering your gonna be heavy. I would chose a spring with a high rate so that way you will sidehill decent especially if your gonna be tall. Flex is way overrated. I think I remember you mentioning something about a one link at one point in time as well. I personally do not like them and would stay away. Link take a TON more time than leaves do tho. I would look at rockapes truggy and sorta copy him in that do coils in the rear and leaves up front. I believe this would be the best option for you, but my coils up front do drop out great and with my spring rate at somewhere around 230ish I sidehill better than I thought as well. That is partly due to the fact that my coils are clamped top and bottom...

PRICE KINDA DEPENDS ON MATERIALS USED......
ON A FOOLSIZE LINK MATERIAL WOULD PRETTY MUCH BE 2 INCH .250 WALL TUBE AND IT ISNT CHEAP AT CLOSE TO $11 A FOOT!!!!THE TRUGGY HAS 5 1 1/4 HEIMS AT $100 EACH(INCLUDED BUNG AND MIS-ALIGN SPACERS).THE FOX 2.5 X 18 AIRSHOCKS WERE $350 EACH + TABS AND BOLTS.I USUALLY FIGURE MINIMUM $1800++ AN END TO LINK SOMETHING(PARTS AND TOOB)!!!!
I KNOW THROTTLE SPENT AT LEAST $3000-3500 IN SHOCKS,TUBE,HEIMS WHEN WE BUILT THE TRUGGY!!!!(IT ALREADY HAD THE ROCKWELLS,INJ 440,DUAL CASES,FUEL CELL AND WHEELS AND TIRES FROM HIM PREVIOUSLY BUILDING ON IT).
COILS ARE GOOD IF YOU CAN MATCH THE RATE/CAPACITY TO THE WEIGHT OF THE RIG!!!!

coilovers (check out F-O-A Coilovers) they probably have the best price on them on the market, Heims roughly about $100-$125 a piece, Evo Joints are rebuildable and will run about $125-150, I just got 2.25" .250 dom tube and it's around $300 a stick (20') steel is outrageous in price now !!! I am in the save $$$ mode since I got shafted earlier on my heims.. but will be doing the suspension swap asap.... and I can gauge how much it'll cost, I am doing the 2.5T thing with my rig too....

Rod ends arn't too bad, but the misalignment spacers are pricey at about 20 bucks a piece....

Cant I thread the heims in?
Would that not be cheaper and stronger too?
I guess I never really understood the whole idea behind the alingment spacers...I must assume they are required but I dont really understand why.

Yea that was I asking about the one links, was a few months ago.
So the 3/4 eliptical, rocks are to much for that?
I have seen it done with 60's
what about that up front? Loose too much side hill stability?
Where did you get your coils out of?
and pics of the front links?
