ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO I BOUGHT A SET OF GEN-RIGHT ROCKER PANEL GAURDS WITH THE OPTIONAL TUBE STEP/GAURD.THANKS TOTALLY OFF-ROAD!!!

TODAY I FINALLY DECIDED TO INSTALL THEM ON MY GREEN YJ(STILL FOR MY WIFE I SWEAR...)

IT HAD SOME CRAPPY ALUMINUM RIVETED ON ROCKER PROTECTORS....

DRILLED ALL THE RIVETS AND REMOVED THEM TO FIND A DECENT LIP(VERY LITTLE DAMAGE CONSIDERING WHAT WAS PROTECTING THEM BEFORE) ON WHATS LEFT OF THE JEEP TUB.....

POSITIONED THE NEW GEN-RIGHT PIECE,MARKED ALL THE HOLES AND DRILLED TO THE CORRECT 5/16THs HOLE....

NOW THESE ARE STOUT PIECES MADE OUT OF 3/16THs STEEL,THAT SHOULD OFFER A BIT MORE PROTECTON FROM SHOPPING CART AND DOOR DINGS:tongue:!!!ACTUALLY THESE WILL SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE RIG AND IT CAN BE USED AS A JACKING POINT AS NEEDED FOR TRAIL REPAIR.

THE ONLY REAL COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THE SPACERS PROVIDED TO GO BETWEEN THE LIP OF THESE GAURDS AND THE TUB ARE NOT AN EASY FIT IF THE FIT AT ALL.I ENDED UP MAKING FOUR OF MY OWN TO GET THE SPACING RIGHT.

THIS INSTALL IS PRETTY BASIC.... ONLY NEEDING BASIC HAND TOOLS,A FLOOR JACK(OR A FRIEND TO HOLD THEM IN POSITION FOR MARKING OF THE DRILL LOCATIONS)A GOOD DRILL AND CORRECT SIZE DRILL BITS.IT TOOK ME ABOUT AN HOUR AND 45 MINUTES TO DO BOTH SIDES.

I USUALLY BUILD MOST OF THE STUFF I NEED ,BUT THESE ARE A QUALITY PRODUCT THAT SAVED ME 5-6 HOURS OF CUTTING,WELDING AND FABRICATING AND THEY ARE EVEN POWDER COATED!!!!

SOME TESTING OF THESE WILL COME EVENTUALLY......(EVEN IF IT IS JUST MY WIFE CLIMBING IN AND OUT OF IT IN A SKIRT!!!!:cool:

On the install I documented recently we had to turn the spacers down to make them fit. We also unded up using steel rivnuts, the aluminum ones just stripped when we tried to remove the rockers for cutting.

THE REARWARD BOTTOM HOLES ALMOST NEED A SPACER THAT IS TWICE AS LONG AS THE ONE THEY PROVIDE,THE MIDDLE HOLE IT IS WAY TOO THICK AND THE FRONT HOLE IT WONT FIT BECAUSE OF THE FACTORY BRACE IS IN THE WAY!!!GOOD THING I HAD SOME CROMO 3/16THS WALL TUBE AROUND TO MAKE NEW SPACERS WITH.I USED THE ALUMINUM RIV-NUTS BUT ILL SEE HOW THEY HOLD UP!!!!

STILL A NICE PRODUCT BUT I WISH THE LOWER SECTION EXTENDED ALL THE WAY TO THE BODY MOUNTS LIKE ANOTHER BRAND DOES.MAINLY JUST BECAUSE IT SIMPLIFIES THE INSTALL.

I have the same ones minus the tube. My spacers worked fine if I remember right. The rivit system was kinda cheap, i ruined a few... I have already used them for a jack point and they worked fine.
