When I had an arb the copper line broke also. If the seal housing isnt tight it will spin and shear the copper tube right off. I had to take mine back to sam and he fixed it up for me. ARB's are nice to have but I found that it was more problems than not, (and I only had one for less than a year).

thats exactly what happened to mine.. I hope this locker isnt all problems.. it hasnt started out too well.. but its getting fixed tomorrow by sam so well see if i keep having problems with it.

Kyle

Not right now. Next I'll be saving up to link the front with coil overs and push the front end out a few inches.. Along with some 40s

are you leaving the stock purches in place or did you move them to correct the spring width?

Kyle
December 22nd, 2010, 09:17 PM
I don't think I will have to move them. From what I have read online te 78-79 kingpin should basically bolt in with out outboarding the springs. I should have the axle back tomorrow with gears and locker so I'll find out tomorrow.. If I have to outboard the springs I would just link it and be done with it. I'm just keeping it this way for now so I can get it back out wheeling soon!

Mrburns
December 23rd, 2010, 07:52 AM
If I remember the measurements correctly, the yj springs hang at 32" and the chevy is at 31.5".. Causing a slight toe on the springs. Some people can live with it, others (me) can't hence the reason (aside from me being lazy)..I haven't finished linking the front..

Kyle
December 23rd, 2010, 09:35 AM
Maybe the ford and chevy are different.. I'll let you know when I go to put it in tomorrow.

So does anyone have any ideas how to get my U- bolt to fit around the brace looking thing closest to the pumpkin? Weld studs to the axle or modify the housing brace thing..:dunno:

I THINK I HAVE SEEN THEM WHERE THEY GRIND A NOTCH IN THE BOTTOM OF THE WEB FOR THE UBOLT TO SIT.......:dunno:

THE CHEVYS HAVE TWO BOLTS THAT THREAD INTO THE AXLE HOUSING THERE....:gapteeth:

Kyle
December 24th, 2010, 08:46 AM
Ya I guess I'm going to grind out the web to make it work..

B2Krawler
December 24th, 2010, 08:54 AM
i have tapped studs, and that works, but the easiest way is just grind that casting until a wide u bolt fits, make a little valley for the "u" part of the bolt so it doesnt slip on you

Kyle
December 24th, 2010, 01:36 PM
Thanks. Thats what I'm going to do I think. Shouldn't take much with a grinder.

Well just waiting on Ballistic Fab STILL to send me my high steer arms.. Been waiting a month now.

But everything else is basically done. Just small things left.

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q57/jeepdude11/jeep5.jpg

I think I might need longer brake lines.. Not sure tho. I guess I will find out when I flex it out.

69'' WMS in the Front and 67'' WMS in the rear.. Not much of a difference! The tire is turned in slightly also since there is no tie rod.

Unfortunately your probably right.

Nice YJ, what T-Case are you runnin?

I just have the Tera low in my 231.. I figure when I put a 350 in there and a new transmission I'll do a new transfercase at the same time.. Maybe a 5.3 or a 6.0. Just need to start saving

with the 60 up front i have been driving it a little harder.. So the question is do I keep my 9'' housing I already have and just do 35 spline shafts (the housing I have has already cracked once, along the bottom. We fixed it and plated it and it has been holding up so far). Or scrap it all and do a diamond (or something similar) axle housing with 35 spline shafts... What do you guys think?

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q57/jeepdude11/twisted9axle.jpg

Budget is tight right now, as it is for everyone. But will i kick my self in the future if I dont do the housing now???
