This is my fierst attempt of a bulid therd and a bulid this big so please keep that in mind when you flame me , and this is a ongoing project it is low budget also so not so much bling .all commets and sugjestions are welcome unless it involes my spelling .:Big Grin: so on to a few specs and pictrues
1993 jeep yj , was horse traded for so got it fairly cheap.
had a 2.5l 4cyl ax-5 np 231 , was sapposed to run thorw a few cheaper parts at it and a lil time at it but never herd it run longer then 30 secoand and that was off the can of starter fluied. Came with a bunch of crap i wasnt going to use . not the kids them are mine .http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o247/redneck6_photos/100_1706.jpg
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o247/redneck6_photos/100_1707.jpg
so i was buliding a cj-5 before i got the yj and i knew i was going to need the room of a yj or cj7 , so i had a few parts slated for that project , like a rebulit TBI 350 and sm465 , so animc 4 cyl that never ran was not to be and twice rebulit 350 to the rescue spec are 79 block punched .080 by PO moly rings , all new bearings cam with idele-5,500 dur 204/214 lift .420/.442
new push rods and guide plates will do head work at a later date.http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o247/redneck6_photos/100_1793.jpg

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o247/redneck6_photos/100_1861.jpg
the tiers that are dictating my wheel choice got a hell of a deal on them freebee 38.5 /12/15, went to summiet to get wheels today , but ran in to a hell of a snag i am running a 44 and 60 out of a 78-79 ford f250 so i got huge brakes only problem with that is i am going to have to run a 2in back space wheel , or change out brakes to chevy or other type of brakes , or buy all new tiers and run 16'' but i cant relly do that , so it is looking like i am going to run 2 in back space wheels , but going to have to speacil order them , and no returns on them so hope there right . need 15x10 8 on 6.5 2'' b/s , open to ideas if you have a wheel like that would love to borrow it and see if it fits.:Big Grin: more updats to come hopefully tomarow.

would you be able to grind your calipers down to fit the 15" rims over them?
redneck6
February 12th, 2008, 10:30 PM
i can grind some of the clapiers down but not enough to fit a 4 in b/s wheel , i called summiet tonight and they have a 2.5 in back space wheel in stock , it is in raw steel i am going to go get one and see if they will fit with minamle grinding . i know every one says grind or cut to make fit but i am on the fence about grinding too much of the calipers brakes are way to imporent lol.

if your worried you can get a spare one from the junk yard and throw it on just to "test fit" so if you grind to much and find out its not going to work your not out one of your good ones.

I looked at junkyards for calipers for core charge on my new ones...Most wouldnt pull them off an axle and those that would wanted just as much as new ones (minus core charge).

I think the added stretch xj springs and the added width will make this very stable all thought you might have to choose difrent lines than most.

MAKE SURE THE DIST ISNT 180 DEGREES OUT....JUST BECAUSE THE THE MARK ON THE PULLEY LINES UP DOESNT MEAN THE #1 CYLINDER ISNT ON ITS EXHAUST STROKE INSTEAD OF ITS COMPRESSION/POWER STROKE IT SHOULD BE!!!
PULL THE #1 PLUG OUT AND TAP ENGINE AROUND UNTIL IT PUSHES YOUR FINGER OFF OF THE #1 HOLE....LINE UP YOU MARK ON YOUR CRANK/TIMING POINTER AND RECHECK WHERE THE ROTOR IS POINTING!!!!
AND JUST AN FYI....ITS 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 FIRING ORDER.....ODD CYLINDERS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE,EVEN ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE(#1 #2 ARE AT THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE CLOSEST TO THE RADIATOR!!!!)

the 15 gallon has the same heigth as the 12 gallon, dual pick-ups just help avoid sucking air when being off camber. Or I can just try and not to run it dry.

so i am at a bit of a stand still i have been making lilttle progress on this , but i decided to cut all of the leaf spring hangers and shock mounts of the front , i have most all the three link brackets on order and enroute . and brackets to mount coil springs got some stock tj fronts was going to try and use them , but now i am thinking of the fact i am linking it i might invest in some air shocks what do you all think it will see the street and what not , ps all brackets are from balistic will take pictrues soon enough so opions on air shocks vs coil's good or bad and yes i know will need saw bar , keeping in mind the rear is still leafs and are going to stay like so for a while . :Big Grin::gapteeth: maybe be done by EJS 2009 .

front 3 link joints are balistic fab 3'' joints . upper and lower links are 2'' .250 wall panhard wich i still got to fab is 1''3/4 .250 wall all brackets are blaistic 1/8 air shocks are balistic 2.0 14'' travel . i learned a few things last few days cuting and moving shit more then once suks ass . it is better to make small strong tacks and dont fully weld shit untill your for sure done . harbor fright 4 1/2 inch grinders are not good for long term whent thought two in last year .
and notching tube with a 9 inch grinder kinda sucks . and when you weld joints it is better to leave joint assmbeld then to take it aprt got weld in threads of one . and it is nice to have understanding wife and be greatfull when she helps with jeep shit on v day lol .
