So I'm installing a Howell EFI on my '84 CJ7.... for which i am taking pictures...and might do a writeup on later (we'll see how it all goes)...

But while taking "all" the vaccum lines off, as per the instructions...i came accross this... http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i291/xjchris/IMG_1560.jpg... which i believe to be a ??? but it had a vaccum line to it so off it comes...easy enough but there is a hard line that runs down and around to the Exhaust manifold.

What is this thing??? do i need it and can i just plug this? Its not in my Chiltons book, the Howell instructions nor did i find it online anywhere.... so WTF:frown:

ITS PART OF THE AIR INJECTION SYSTEM...NOT NEEDED!!!!IM PRETTY SURE THEY TELL YOU TO TAKE IT OFF BUT YOU CAN JUST LEAVE IT....

Oh its coming off... just not sure if i need it... can i just plug that hole on the exhaust and call it good? or do i need some super fancy exhaust plug thing?

we cut part of the tube that came off and bent it over and clamped it shut. just so the exhaust does not leave there.

Sweet... so yours had it too....just couldn't find it anywhere so thought i'd ask.... Thanks!

yep.. the directions it comes with are not all that great...

They blow ass...!!!...especially if your not 100% about all the vaccum parts... but there are some pretty good write ups on the web, and if your lucky one is the same model, year and state/country of origin as yours....but me...not so lucky....

Yep,,Thats the Pulse air induction,,I took mine off per instructions,You should save the setup ,because i have had problems with passing the smog visual because the under hood vac decal shows it as part of the system and the Tech won't pass it BUT they say that as long as its there ,and it doesn't even need to be hooked up(just appear to be hooked up) They will pass it,
