WELL AFTER SOME MEASUREING LAST NIGHT I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW I AM GOING TO LINK ALL OF MY JUNK.....
AXLE BRACKETS LIKE THESE...
http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/3-Radius-Axle-Link-Bracket-Left-Side-p-372.html
FRAME LOWER BRACKETS LIKE THESE...
http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/High-Clearance-Lower-Control-Arm-Frame-Mount-Left-Side-p-699.html
AXLE UPPER LINK BRAKET LIKE THIS....
http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/8-Upper-Control-Arm-Axle-Bracket-3-Radius-p-702.html
I PLAN ON MAKING THE CHASSIS SIDE UPPER LINK BRACKET MYSELF...
PANHARD CHASSIS BRACKET...(MIGHT DO IT MYSELF..)
http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/Panhard-Tracbar-Frame-mount_p_24-1441.html
PAN HARD AXLE MOUNT....MAKING IT MYSELF
JOINTS....
http://ballisticfabrication.3dcartstores.com/30-Ultra-Duty-BALLISTIC-Joint_p_12-1507.html
WITH TWO 3/4 HEIMS ON THE PANHARD ROD....
TUBE WILL BE 2" .250 DOM FOR THE LINKS AND 1.5 .250 FOR THE PAN HARD...
AND WILL BE USING THESE SHOCKS ON MOST IF NOT ALL OF MY RIGS....
http://www.rockequipment.com/cat14.htm
I THINK I WILL DO THE TWO SEAT BUGGY FIRST,SINCE THE LEAF SPRINGS ARE TIRED FROM THE LAST RUN.....:Big Grin:WHEEL BASE IS GOING TO SEE A 4-5 INCH STRETCH TO 106-107"

PLUS SHANNON CAMPBELL USES THEM EVEN SINGLE SHEAR  IN THE FRONT OF HIS HIGH HP MOONBUGGIES!!!:
I JUST FIGURED SINCE I REALLY LIKE THE 3 LINK PANHARDS IN THE LO-BUDGET PIMPIN BUGGY......ILL UPDATE AND CHANGE MY BUGGY THAT WORKS REALLY WELL..... I HOPE IT ADDS TO ITS PERFORMANCE AND KEEPS ITS ROCK SOLID STABILTY!!!

I don't think you can add to the stability of leaf springs, unless you put a sway bar on the thing. :Big Grin:

I have a anti-rock if I need it......but remeber how slow the shocks Im running react....plus it will get the winch rope attached to pull it down as needed!!!
I plan to stand the rear shocks up some more and replace the fox's with Rock Equipment also.....14s front 16s rear....

Im also planning on running 3 link w/ panhard in the front of my yj.
Got my brackets from polyperformance as well. I will have to fab the brackets on the axle end (no one makes brackets for mogs) Using RE joints and running 14" fox coilovers w/rem res (still waiting on those ).

I KNOW JANK(KING BLING)HAS HAD A SET ON HIS BUGGY FOR SOME TIME!!!!THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ROCK EQUIP AND EVERYONE ELSES....IS THEY TAKE ALOT MORE FORCE TO ACTUALLY GET THEM TO MOVE!!!ON THE LO-BUDGET BUGGY DRIVING ON DIRT IS PRETTY ROUGH BUT THEY ARE TOTALLY PREDICABLE IN THE ROCKS!!!

Let me know if any of you guys need some custom brackets. Some stuff I can draw up and cut out in about 10 minutes. Or I can cut get you stuff like this -

If its something we already have drawn up it should be pretty cheap.

I'm curious to see how well the RE shocks hold the weight in front. I'm running the same shocks on the back of my toy and love them so far. I have them almost verticle though. What motor are you running in the buggy, looks like a 4.3 chevy ? That's also what I'm running, and I'm looking real hard at linking the front too, but figured I'd have to go to 2.5 Fox's to support the weight.

THE LO-BUDGET BUGGY HAS THOSE SHOCKS ALL AROUND IN THE 14" FLAVOR ...AND WORKS VERY WELL!!!
THIS BUGGY IS A 4.3/TH350/DANA 300,THE REAR SHOCKS WILL BE STRAIGHTEND UP QUIT A BIT BEFORE IT ROLLS OUT OF THE SHOP....AND GETTING THE SAME SHOCKS OUT BACK(EXCEPT 16s...)
I DO KNOW OF A BUGGY(JANKS....AKA KINGBLING)THAT HAS HAD THE 2" ROCK EQUIPMENT SHOCKS ALL AROUND FOR SOME TIME AND HAS ONE TONS AND SOON TO BE 47" TIRES!!!!SO I WOULD SAY THEY WOULD WORK IN MOST APPLICATIONS.......I WILL FIND OUT FOR MYSELF WHEN I GET ON THE LO-LIFE TOY PROJECT THAT THE OTHER 4 SHOCKS ARE SLATED TO GO ONTO!!!

You plan on bracing that upper link by adding some side gussets. All those cutouts that Ballistic adds does not make for a very strong bracket.

except the upper link shouldn't have any side to side loads on it thanks to the panhard. I think those being at least 3/16, maybe 1/4, will be fine. Not to mention it is a 4 sided mount.

THEY ARE 1/4.....AND IF YOU NOTICE THE PLATES THAT FACE FRONT AND REAR...I ACTUALLY SUNK THOSE IN SO I CAN ADD AN EXTRA WELD RIGHT TO THE AXLE TUBE!!!!

TACKED PANHARD LINK BRACKETS ON,MADE A TEMP PANHARD OUT OF 1.25 .120 DOM,BECAUSE IT IS EASIER AND CHEAPER TO GET RIGHT!!!!THE ONLY REAL ISSUE I AM GOING TO HAVE IS THE PAN HARD WILL HAVE BENDS IN BOTH ENDS TO CLEAR THE PUMPKIN AND THE FRAME ON THE OTHER SIDE...HERES THE PICS!!!

Not really but the upper link has a part in which way the vehicle wants to roll. With the motor torque in a front engine buggy the torquing force of the motor wants to cause the vehicle to roll passenger and lift the drivers side front end up. With the rear upper link on the drivers side as well would cause the drivers rear of the vehicle to pull up as well, causing a pretty heavy body roll to passenger.
You want the rear upper to be on the passenger side of the vehicle.

For body roll, no.
Because of the portal boxes the axle shafts in the Mog axles rotate backwards. But the pinion still rotates the standard direction so....

How come you went with a panhard and not a triangulated 3 link.
ONE IS SO IT WOULD FIT...THE OIL PAN WOULD HAVE TO MOVE TO GET TWO UPPER LINKS IN THERE...ALSO WITH THE PANHARD IT IS EASIER TO SET MY ROLL CENTER PRETTY HIGH...THAT MEANS I SHOULD HAVE LESS CHASSIS ROLL IN AN OFF-CAMBER SITUATION......(OF COARSE THE FRONT WINCH LINE TO THE AXLE WILL HELP WITH THAT TOO!!!)

Just the fronts.
When my Willys had a 94" wheelbase I couldn't climb shit with it, and rolled over all the time. One day I just said fuck it and filled the fronts with as much water as I could get in them. After that I was crawling hills that had never made it up before. Since then I have only drove it once without water, and it felt so unstable. A lot of people try water and only fill to the bottom of the wheel, then say they didn't notice a difference. Thats why I say go at least half full and try it.

A few years ago people told me not to run water because I would break my axles. So I didn't run water and I had to beat on my junk to try to get it to go where I wanted it to. That resulted in breaking everything other than my front shafts. When I finally put water in I was able to run my Spicers shafts and joints for a few years before all the needles started falling out and one of them broke. I don't think its much harder on parts. Lead on the other hand can be pretty hard on stuff.

I am assuming the lead comment is because water is liquid and therefore just rolls inside as the tire does, and lead as a solid can cause a lot of rotating mass when your tires are hopping?

What size tires and brand are you running? 40" stickys? You should be fine with the water as long as your not doing any major wheel hopping. And after watching Colonel Mustard wheel his stock 60 hard for 3 days at the hammers you shouldnt have a problem with the 35 spline outers.

Why didn't you have me make the brackets?? They need a large radius over that peak to look some-what decent.

Why didn't you have me make the brackets?? They need a large radius over that peak to look some-what decent.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO HARD GETTING THEM TO FIT JUST RIGHT,SINCE THEY HAVE A LITTLE LEAN TO THEM GETTING THE BOLT HOLES JUST RIGHT WOULD HAVE BEEN HARD...PLUS THEY ARE IN BETWEEN TWO TUBES THAT ARENT PARALLEL.........
I WILL ADD SOME .120 SHEET OVER THE TOPS OF THEM TO ADD A LITTLE MORE STRENGTH MAYBE WITH SOME SPEED HOLES!!!
DO YOU HAVE ANY .120 SHEET(OR THINNER...) METAL???ALL I NEED IS TWO PIECES 10" X 1.75 WITH 1" HOLES EQUALLY SPACED 1" APART!!!IT WOULD SAVE ME SOME TIME FOR SURE!!!!IF I GET THOSE DONE AND PULL THE TANK TO WELD IT ALL UP ,THE REAR SUSPENSION SHOULD BE DONE TONIGHT!!!
THEN MY LIST IS JUST...
REMOUNT BELLY SKID,MAKE OIL PAN SKID,REPLACE REAR LIMIT CHAIN WITH AN ACTUAL LIMIT STRAP,WELD A TAB ON THE FRONT AXLE FOR THE WINCH LINE,CHECK FRONT DRIVELINE TO SEE IF I GOTTA HAVE IT EXTENDED,ADD WATER TO THE TIRES....
TAKE IT OUT AND SET NITROGEN PRESSURES TO GET THE DESIRED RIDE HEIGHT......AND WHEEL!!!
PLUS AT SOME POINT I GOT TO GET SOME CLEAR LEXAN FOR THE SIDE PANELS...AND ADD TABS!!!!

WITH THOSE SHOCKS I CANT SWAY THE BUGGY SIDE TO SIDE BY HAND IF I WANTED TO....I KNOW I LOST SOME REAR SUSPENSION TRAVEL BY MAKING THE REAR SHOCKS MORE UPRIGHT BUT THE GAIN IN MORE STABILITY SHOULD BE WORTH THE TRADE OFF!!!!

So what little things left until it's done and ready for the weekend now? Drivelines?
I THINK THE FRONT DRIVELINE IS GONNA SURVIVE THE STRETCH.....
WHATS LEFT...
-SET NITROGEN PRESSURE(ITS JUST A TAD TOO LOW ALL THE WAY AROUND)IN THE SHOCKS
-MOUNT SKID
-MAKE AND MOUNT ENGINE SKID
-MOUNT FIRE EX
-WELD TAB ON FRONT AXLE FOR WINCH ROPE ATTACHMENT
THERE IS A BUNCH OF LITTLE THINGS I NEED TO DO BUT I THINK THEY CAN WAIT UNTIL AFTER SOME TESTING.....
IM KINDA AT THE MERCY OF WHEN MY SPOTTER HAS TIME TO GO PLAY THIS WEEKEND.....MIGHT BE SAT AFTERNOON OR SUNDAY!!!!

GOT IT OUT TO THE MOONROCKS THIS AFTERNOON FOR SOME TESTING......NO PICS BUT CONNECT HASD SOME MAYBE HE WILL POST....
HAD SOME ISSUES....
PULLED THE FRONT ARB LINE OUT OF THE FITTING...
SOME HOW RUINED A REAR BRAKE FLEX LINE....(IM BATTING 1000 ON THISE LATELY....)
AND THE COOLING FAN PRETTY MUCH FELL OFF DUE TO THE PANHARD AND IT TRYING TO OCCUPY THE SAME SPACE....
ALL PRETTY MUCH EASY FIXES....GLAD THEY DIDNT GET ME DURING THE COMP....ILL TRY TO GET IT OUT CLOSER TO HOME NEXT WEEK AND FIX ANY MORE SMALL ISSUES...
BUT ON THE UPSIDE IT WORKED REALLY WELL.THE ADDED WHEELBASE IS COOL,WATER IN THE TIRES SEEMS TO KEEP IT PRETTY PLANTED,AND THE ROCK EQUIPMENT SHOCKS KICK ASS....NO UNLOADING AT ALL AND THIS THING IS ROCK SOLID IN ALL SITUATIONS I PUT IT IN TODAY!!!!:Big Grin:
IM THINKING ME AND MY SPOTTER ARE GOING TO GET ALONG JUST FINE....JUST SO LONG AS HE KNOWS HE IS MY NEW ROCK N-I-G-G-A:eek:!!!!

Hmm, just bringing this back to the top :Big Grin:
