With all the trailer Queens on this site I expected to find a forum devoted to trailering and tow rigs.

I have Questions.

I can create one but Im afraid another member on this board might post something about letting jackasses borrow your trailers....:frown: If people feel that there is enough to discuss in its own thread I will be more than happy to create one!

I don't post on that other one elsewhere, I just read there.

Since I don't have a trailer Queen or a tow rig I don't think it would be "My" forum.

I'm going to Moab in June with the Cruiser Club. I don't see my wife riding 14 hours in the FJ40 with the top off. Since it's "our" vacation time a solo run is out. That leaves us in the new LC. Which is fine, lots of stuff to do in Moab that it will handle. But it's kind of a shame to go there and not have the 40, my wife even said so.

So I'm wondering how sketchy it would be pulling the 40 behind the 100. Flat tow or trailer? stuff like that.

Will it be okay to just ask here?

Whats the tow rating on your land cruiser? Thats the biggest factor right there...then add in all the weight of gear and other stuff...you might be able to...but why push it and take a chance...nothing like getting trailer wobble and 75 miles an hour...

Sorry, UZJ100 series Land Cruiser. It's the semi pussified evolution of the FJ40. I could still have fun with it. Even though it's still fairly stock.

As far as towing goes the UZJ100 has a V8 (2UZ-FE, 4.7L 235HP), wheel base is 112", it weighs 5400# and is rated to tow 6500#. My FJ40 probably weighs around 4000 to 5000#. I have no idea how much a flat bed car trailer weighs.

I've never flat towed, how different is it than pulling a trailer?

I wish I could get enough guys interested to hire a flat bed semi to haul 6 or 8 rigs down there and back.

ITS EASIER...SINCE A TOWED RIG WITH A BAR STAYS BETTER IN-LINE WITH ITS PULLER!!!

What makes the front wheels on the towed rig track? It's not easy to keep the 40 between the lines when you are driving it never mind whit no one behind the wheel.

If I still had my full size GMC I'd rent a flatbed in a heart beat.

Probably best to just make the run down there and break some shit on the 100. Then I'll have an excuse to upgrade the bumpers and suspension.
Looking at the rear bumper it won't take much to bust it up good.
