View Full Version : 2.5L manual to power steering conversion.

first of ill start.. YES I SEARCHED!!!

ok on my dads 1991 YJ he has the 2.5l with manula steering:frown:. we were wanting to convert it to power steering. we have all the power steering parts from the 1995 XJ(thanks connect) and were thinking they should be able to swap in?

4.0L bracketry and a spacer for the top mount will work on the 2.5L I did this in my MJ.. You have to have good alignment of the pulleys or your belt will squeel.. You will have to use the 4.0L steering box. Bolts right in.. The 2.5L steering box has no ports for power steering.

that was for a MJ though. am i wrong or should it all pretty much bolt right on?

I HAVE SEEN THE 4 CYLs WITH P.S(I THINK)...BUT HAVENT EVER DONE ONE!!!JUST PUT THE 4.0 IN AT THE SAME TIME!!!THEN ITS AN EASY SWAP!!!OR SEE IF BIG BLUES WAS A PS 4 CYL AND SEE IF HE CAN HOOK YA UP!!!

Whenever they are there at the house. If I can get another injector before this weekend I can drive the jeep to yoour shop for that stinger build. And maybe a few minutes at Prison. Thats wht the jeep was running so crappy one of the injectors was taking a crap...fix one problem three more pop up! The steering conversion should be straight forward.
