u definitely got some cool stuff to droll over. What size tube are you using for the exo cage?

bamfx-factor
May 2nd, 2008, 08:24 AM
mostly 1.75 hrew, but some 1.5, for bracing and cross braces. I know a lot of people dont like using hrew but i know back east ( im from New Hampshire) people who do dirt track racing and sanctiond circle track racing use hrew tube and many use black pipe, for the cages and some for the complete chassis:eek: Scared me at first then i saw how much abuse they took and some of these guys roll going really fast and walk away fine and the cages hold up great!:Big Grin: I have seen poorly thought out cages built of dom and wouldent get in them to save my life and i have seen beautiful cages built from pipe and seen them work flawlessly, I feel if the design is sound and you have good welding and fab skills dom, hrew, and yes cheap pipe will keep you safe. Thats just me 2 cents and im sure im gona stir up a world of shit :Big Grin: but hey thats why were here!

Lookin good, that tube work is pretty bad ass. So i'm curious about the propane, is it for power or milage or something? atleast you'll always have some gas to cook some burgers and stuff :Big Grin:

bamfx-factor
May 6th, 2008, 07:02 AM
The propane is more for the off road ability over a carb, It was between an efi swap off a 22re, but finding the parts proved to be tricky even at pick and pull, there were no 22re motors with complete harnesses anywhere! :frown: And i didnt have the money for a stand alone harness and efi kit... so i lool\ked into propane and its a cheap swap ( 700 bucks to 1000! ) :Big Grin: and i figured its kind of different so why not!

Hardcore-CashMoney
May 7th, 2008, 04:27 AM
I thought it was pretty cool too, just might be tuff to find extra fuel in the middle of nowhere...any ideas on what kinda mileage you might get with that kinda set up? When you get it done we'll have to send some pictures to the green weenies about a clean fueled rig. :Big Grin: That really is a good point about the carb and pane though

BIG BLUE
May 7th, 2008, 10:34 AM
depends on the propane system...i was lookiong to go that route but run both gas and propane...gas for the road and long haul and then switch to propane for trail use. But right now I have to focus on getting hte jeep running and staying that way for more then ten minutes.

Rig looks good. Like the backhalf!

to bleed your steering system, lift the front axle up and put it on jackstands. fill the fuild up and put the cap back on. steer full lock once. check fluid(you will probably see bubbles in the tank. re fill if needed. steer to full lock again. check again. then full lock a few times.. go until you dont see any more bubbles in the system. check to see if the tank is the highest point of the system too..

DOES THE FLUID IN THE RES LOOK AIRIATED???IF NOT THE LEVEL WILL RISE AS IT WARMS UP...IT KINDA WILL FIND ITS FULL LEVEL THAT WAY!!!!

IF NOT FOLLOW JEEPERS SUGGESTION AND BLEED THE SYSTEM!!!!

I USUALLY JACK MINE UP,AND STEER IT LOCK TO LOCK WITH THE ENGINE OFF TO GET MOST OF THE AIR OUT BEFORE I ACTUALLY START THE ENGINE!!!AND IF YOU DO START IT AND HAVE ALOT OF AIR RISING OUT OF THE FLUID,GO AHEAD AND STEER IT A FEW TIMES AND SHUT IT OFF...LET ALL THE AIR RISE OUT OF THE RES. AND REPEAT!!!!
