Shawn called me today and wanted to go wheelin over in Sierra Valley. So I got over there around 1pm today and walked out behind the shop to find this.

After seeing the pile of parts I looked over and saw this.

So we buttoned a few things up and headed out to go play in the convertible. Nothing too hardcore just played in his obstacle course, then headed up to the mini moon rocks up behind the house looking at the new lines we are gonna build up there.

His rig is much more lighter now and way QUIETER with out the body rattling! This is just the tear down, Im sure we will be seeing some nice skins and some more tube work down the road.

I like the look, but feel pretty vulnerable. its amazing how much better it handles when you cut off 400 lbs, more power too.
I have some tube to add, I was going to cut body panels from plexiglass, but think I will go with steel plate so i have more protection, so i will probably just be adding some of the weight back

yeah the sliders are really out there now that the body is gone, there is going to be a slightly higher, more tucked in version. I have been tossing around the idea of boat sides, but i think a sliders help me out from rolling and allow me to pivot on big rocks

BOAT SIDES ARE COOL BECAUSE THEY MAKE THE RIG ESSENTUALLY SMALLER WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE....I HAVE YET TO RUB THE DODGE ON BOAT SIDE PLATES...EVER!!!!

if I had the forethought of not having a body i would have made the cage much different, I think the next step will just be a whole new tube cage, and eliminate a frame all together. I really like the looks of the cages that dont have any panels, where the tube is the body.

I THINK i WOULD WHEEL IT A WHILE......AT LEAST THEN YOU WILL HAVE TIME TO DECIDE HOW YOU WANT IT,INSTEAD OF A YEAR LONG NEW BUILD....
PLUS SVs RIG WILL NEVER GET DONE IF YOU BUILD A NEW ONE.......(AND DO REALLY WANT HIM AS A PROFESSIONAL PASSENGER FOREVER???:gapteeth:)

the tube chassy is two years away, I still need to finish my front 609, before i start that project... although i really liked looking like a b2, just because nobody else did, now Im just another half ass tube buggy. I have really changed my driving style in the last year, its really nice to just bash. back when the body was straight I always got bummed when I put a dent in it, but after that 1st real big one it was kinda fun. the Hammers sealed the deal
SV is on his own!!!! its good for him, no better way to learn
