Kid Rock isn't country, never has been. He hangs with the country boys but what he sings is called Rock-a-Billy, styled after Elvis :gapteeth:

Yeah, but they had to call it something when they shipped it to country radio stations. I'll be playing it a little bit starting this week. Don't get me wrong. It AIN'T country, but it is a good, fun song.

MIRANA ISNT NEARLY AS HOT AS CARRIE OR TAYLOR SWIFT.....(VINYL BOOTS IN BOTH OF THEIR VIDEOS ARE SMOKEN HOT!!!!)

:Crying: If I had a buck for everytime someone bitched about the music on the station....."That's too twangy" , There's not enough twang", "That's not country enough", "That's too country", "you don't play any Mel Tillis", "You play too much Mel Tillis". Can't make everyone happy, I just have to play to the common denominator....which is good songs that the most people will identify with. There's no book in a deep dark shelter in Nashville somewhere that decrees what makes country music country. Country is a state of mind, a feeling, and a buch of other shit I could get real deep on ya with.
And my point with Miranda is she is the best qualities of those chicks in one. She's hot ( yes she is!), she loves guns, and she can play a damn guitar! I can't even count the ways I could sexually dissapoint her!

OK HERE"S MINE. Whats bein played on the radio today isn't even COUNTRY. it's POP, ROCK-A-BILLY AND SHIT NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHERE ELSE TO PUT!!!! Nashvill dictates what can be admisable (PC) so we don't hurt anyones feelings. we've lost our western to a hamoginized "time out" (PC) culture.

That's the crux of the issue right there. There ISN'T one all powerful entity dictating what is and is not "country" I've been there, in the board rooms, recording studios and songwriting sessions. You do realize that when Waylon and Johnny and Kristofferson first came out people said THEY weren't country either. They only became the representatives of country music because they were the ones.......

selling records!

It's a business, not a conspiracy. Everyone thinks that because THEIR favorite artist isn't number one and played to death, it's a conspiracy of some sort and SOMEONE MUST be pulling some puppet strings. Despite their "fluffiness", Tim Mcgraw, Kenny Chesney, Sugarland and yes, Carrie Underwood sell (LOTS OF) records and appeal to a broad cross section of the population. The rock format isn't any different.

I hardly ever listen to country anymore. Too many fags like Lonestar, fakes that sound like someone told them to be country, and not enough real country singers or songs.

Miranda Lambert is hot, and probably as country as any popular "country" singer out there right now.

What other new singers would you consider "country"?

Case and point. What YOU consider "country" and what I consider "country" could be very different. I consider a song that tells me a story and makes me "see" it while they sing it, country. Most go by the typical definition of "Song must contain either steel guitar, mandolin, harmonica or fiddle, include either momma, trains, whiskey, dogs or divorce, and at no time can the beat exceed 128 beats per minute." You won't find much that meets all of those except a few shining examples from Jamey Johnson, Jake Owen, James Otto, Randy Houser, Halway to Hazard, Jack Ingram, Lance Miller, Josh Turner, Gary Allan, ...I could go on. There is so much music out there. Both good and bad. Country and "not". That why radio is what it is. We can't play everything everybody likes. All we can do is play what the audience responds to, hope they go buy the album and find their favorites that way.

I don't listen to country much (if ever) but I do know the Kid rock song and am a fan myself.

Most other country I can not stand so It gets ignored, I'll stick with my older rap/rock, and if I happen to hear a new song thats decent (which is hard to come by nowaday) I'll download it for my Ipod.

You gotta play to your demographic. How much a song gets played after it leaves "current" status depends on a lot of things, but it boils down to how popular it was while current. Lots of times we "rest" the song for a while since we probably played the fawk out of it. It will resurface (if warranted) in a few months. Toby, Kenny, Garth, Alan, George and Tim are "core artists" and you can expect to hear them at least once every hour. I know people think my work is all play, but there is a lot more that goes into it than you will ever know. Fawk! just for starters, I have to READ to do my job effectivley! Who knew!?

Every trade publication known to man and the subsequent charts contained in them. every peice of info every promotion rep sends me on various artists, from independent to record label reps. And that is in conjunction with listening to the HUNDREDS of songs I get across my desk weekly from every major record label, independent record label and every person who's mom said they should be a singer and can get their cattle bawling on cd. And that's just Monday and Wednesday mornings. Don't get me started on the rest of those two days and the rest of the week......

Well I could just put every song I get on the air....You'd stop listening entirely in a day. Guaranteed.
There's a certain amount of "gut instinct", but you wanna do your homework before throwing "Joe Bob and Billy's" new tune "Make love to the sound of Dale Sr." on the air.

I'm not sayin' it's a bad show. It Alan Jackson for ball's sake! Just not a "show" I could be just as entertained sitting in the parking lot drinking beer and listening to the cd in my truck. Hell, he only plays about three chords on his guitar the whole show. The rest of the time it just hangs around his neck like a prop or something. Just kinda boring for what you pay for.
Now Toby and Montgomery Gentry, THAT will be a "SHOW". Should be fun to watch. If you go to both you'll see what I'm talking about. If I shell out 30-75 bucks, I wanna be entertained, not just stand there listening to music.

Toby's got a pretty big stage set. If your anywhere within the first 40 rows, you're golden. Sometimes the best seats aren't right up front. you can't see everything going on.

This concert was bad ass. Probably one of the best concerts Ive been too. Lots of tit-tays.

Also bought the jamie johnson cd today. Its pretty good! Nothin like all the new country out there now.

I dont think MG out showed him. It was real close until T.Keith did Strangle hold. Plus he gets points for heckleing his own fans.

You ought to start playin song #2 on the radio, I like it :gapteeth:

Dont matter, they are all good. Its also nice that he writes all his own shit and probably writes most of the other songs on the air...

He's written a metric assload of hits. George Strait's "Give it away". Trace Adkins "Honkytonk Badonkadonk", "Ladies love country boys and "this ain't no thinkin' thang", etc, etc.
Actually, tracks 6 and 11 weren't written by him, but the rest were ( or were co-written) by him on the album. "Mowing down the roses he co-wrote with Jeremy Popov ( from the rock band "Lit").
