EricsXJ has a decent write up on his site from our first trip up there a few years ago.
I would say it is on par with Rubicon in terms of difficulty - at least for those of us who take the bypasses on the 'con.... 33's and a locker and you should have no real trouble. There are a few optional areas that can get you in trouble - like this magical shifting rock...

The lake and the area surrounding it are awesome. We spent an entire day hiking in the wilderness last year and going around to all the little lakes nearby. I would spend another day or two hiking around if i had the time, but clearing three days can be tough enough.
The trail opens late and closes early in the season to prevent erosion. It keeps the trail in good condition from year to year, but it also means it is usually a very dusty trail...
The good camping spots at the lake usually fill up by Friday evening in my experience. Midweek it is empty...
