Hey Guys,
Wanted to drop in and say hey, I am sure most of you know about Rock Ape and my history but we both know that we each have our "jobs" when it comes to building stuff and getting razed on the net.
Hope to pop in from time to time to see what is going on and how you guys like/hate the show.

DAMN....NOW THERES A PERK!!!HOWS THE POWER ON THE STREET???
AND REAL WORLD FUEL MILEAGE???
The power is "liveable" Right now I have a shop in Indianapolis building some new turbos for it that will spool up a little faster, and re-tune it with EFI Live. The D-MAx ECU's have two different fuel curve programmed into them from the factory one for everyday driving and one for 4wd (you get about 100 lb ft more torque) So you can program the ECU with a useful one with about 800HP, and 900 Lbft, and have a switch to excite a pin to activate the all out 1100 HP , and 1300 lb ft it is a blast to drive.
Real world fule economy depends on how you drive, you can get it close to 18-20 MPG if you use your head. But I ussually get about 13-15 on average.

DO YOU HAVE FREE RUN OF ANY OTHER RIGS THE SHOW HAS BUILT???IF SO WHY NOT TAKE THE CREW OUT AND GET SOME FOOTAGE TO HAVE FOR A 5 MINUTE SEGMENT AND UPDATE ON A RIG???
IM SURE MOST PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM STILL BEING WHEELED.
AND WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE FJ 60???(THE ONE THAT GOT A KINDA BACK HALF)
AND HAVE ANY OF THE RIGS THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY BUILT BEEN PARTED,DUE TO THEY CANT BE SOLD???
SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS.....BUT I WAS SO STAR STRUCK WHEN WE MET.........:mullet:

OK I will try to answer a few questions.
Projects have always been my call. The execs are really cool about giving me pretty much free reign on what gets built on the show. My job is to basically plan the projects/season, work with advertisers and sales guys, write the script, host the show, build teh trucks, tech check each ep before final edit, and liason with exec producers to ensure ratings and interest is high.
Sometimes we have specific requests from advertisers on projects they want to see built but even those we work out together and come up with good ideas.
Only one project has been "parted out" and that was the Bottom Drawer Buggy...hoenstly there was so much stuff I wanted to change on it, it was just going to be way more work than it was worth...the axles ended up on a better project. The S10 Truggy.
Most of the rigs built on the show are in the warehouse and if I get invited to a trail ride or need to check out a new park I will haul one out and wheel it for a while.
Just grabbing a camera crew to shoot short segments (whether it be overnighters or quick rides) is not that easy. If you have ever been on a TV shoot before you would know how much work it takes to set up for a field shoot. We work very hard to make the production quality of Xtreme 4x4 very high and that requires some serious gear.....and if you thought building trucks was expensive you should price out some of the gear we use. You could but a Trophy truck for the same price as one of our HD cameras!!!!!!!!
Oh and it would be hard for Jessi to come out west for a trail ride....she quit the show like 8 months ago.

DAMN...ALL THAT AND I WAS TELLING EVERYONE YOU'RE JUST AN ACTOR!!!!:gapteeth: SOUNDS LIKE YOU GOT YOUR HANDS FULL!!!!
ARE YA PLANNING FOR ANY OLDER BUILD RE-VISITS???
AND SINCE YOUR DAILY DRIVER IS THE URBAN GORILLA.......DO YOU LIVE ON THE ULTIMATE TRAILER????
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS ITS A COOL SHOW THAT DOESNT HAVE ANY REAL COMPETITORS......CURRENTLY!!!AND YES I HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DISAGREE WITH SOME OF THE THINGS YOU DO.......IM USUALLY ONLY GONNA SPEAK UP BECAUSE ALOT OF GUYS THAT WATCH THAT SHOW MAY TAKE HOW YOU BUILD SOMETHING AS GOSPEL.....AND BUILD IT EXACTLY THE SAME,WHEN REALLY YOU MIGHT BE FULL-FILLING A SPONSOR REQUEST......(THAT I UNDERSTAND NOW HAS TO BE DONE SOMETIMES!!!!).
OH YEAH AND SINCE WE ARE HOMIES AND ALL CAN YA PUT IN A FEW MORE ENTRIES ON THAT HOT ROD TRUCK "TRUCKS" IS GIVING AWAY????

Really does 4x4extreme need to be high def? I can hardly see anyways from all the years of flash burn from doing a "quickbead" cause im too lazy to get the helmet (disclaimer: Im a lazy dumbass and do not condone welding with out proper safety gear) so really just a litttle hand held would be cool...you can call it Ian's Clips from the real world...cause there is something cool about hear a big block burning the tires thru crappy audio....makes ya feel like you were there. :Big Grin: keep up the good work and I would love to see a real junkyard build....like all the parts really comin from PNP or something similiar...
