So now that I got the jeep running and have been flexing it out I have a few issues...what a surprise. I need to setup some sort of bumpstop for the rear as right now the tire stuffin in the fenderwell is the bumpstop...also thinking of stretching it and eliminating the rear springs and linking it. So that brings me to my questions about air shocks. I see a few guys on here running them and wanted thoughts, ideas, regrets, joys. What are recommedations for size and how to properly measure for correct fitment. Just any overall thoughts.

First off, what are your plans for the jeep? Air shocks are going to severely limit it's streetability, will probably need a sway bar if you want to make it go fast, and isn't going to ride very well.
Air shocks IMO are for a crawler, and not good for much else.

Well the jeep is sorta streetable but getting less everyday. I plan to start making it more of a crawler and less of a streeter. I was just looking at different rides and saw that a lot of them used these..but true most are trail dedicated rigs. Which I dont have a problem with cause I can trailer the jeep and usually do so that when my booty fab fails me I can still get home...but that being my exact point. redoing alot of the botty fab issues so as to have a reliable wheeler. Or would I be better of just going coils and shocks...

THEY DONT USUALLY RIDE TOO BAD WHEN THEY ARE COMBINED WITH SOME REAL UPTRAVEL.....MINE DONT RIDE WELL BUT PERFORM GREAT IN THE ROCKS!!!!(THOUGH THEY ARENT FOX's...)
WITH A LINK SET-UP YOU WILL NEED TO RUN SOME KIND OF SWAY BAR TO KEEP THE GANGSTA LEAN IN CHECK!!!!
FOR EASE OF INSTALLATION AND PRICE,I LIKE THEM ALOT!!!!THOUGH I NEVER HAD COIL OVERS TO COMPARE BUT BRYAN Ds BUGGY RIDES LIKE AN F-N CADILLAC!!!

So what is a good length to go with? I am debating whether im keeping hte back seat or getting rid of it. I might cut out the floor board and mount the shocks behind the seats. I realize air shocks need to be mounted as close to vertical as possible. Also if I do go with a stretch what would be a good measurement to go with? Also I plan to cut of the rear of the front arm and replace it with a heim joint rather than the stud and rubber bushings it has now. I dont plan to change the front at all. Im happy with it, but I do need to work on the shock mounts as I dont have enough up travel. The shocks bottom right now. I could go with a shorter shock for now but I plan to cut off curent tower and either move it up or replace it with a regular shocker like this

YOU CANT STRETCH IT MUCH WITHOUT LOSING YOUR GAS TANK!!!!THE AMOUNT OF STRETCH PRETTY MUCH DICTATES SHOCK PLACEMENT!!!GO LOOK AT "ANOTHER GREEN YJ" THREAD FOR IDEAS!!!!

As far as the tank I plan to switch to a fuel cell as I need to get my pressure down anyways so when I add the regulator and new pump I will be upgrading the tank. The stock one hangs to low anyways and that tin protective plate is so bent it was shoving my tank up into the frame pinching the fuel lines. So looking at that kit I would need a set of xj springs and to relocate the tank and shocks...hmm too many different ways to go nowadays. But I am defiantly forming a plan before touching anything with a torch. Amazing what a mind kind do when not filled with takillya!

x2. You can alway get a the gen right gas tank. But I think its like 900 bucks...and its still down there to bash on rocks. so lose the tank, chop the frame. Get a fuel cell, tube the back and 3 link it! Was probably the easiest thing I did in my build (minus getting the fuel cell to work ). With the tank gone you can move the rear axle where ever the fawk you want.
