Big Changes to TRG

[BIG BLUE]

Tonight as of midnight TRG will be down for a few hours to propagate some new changes. For the last few years TRG has been just floating along in the internet world. As all good things must come to an end so will the board as we know it. There are some new winds blowing across the desert and I will leave it up to the new owners to introduce and explain the changes for 2009. I believe the look and feel of the board is to remain but TRG is looking to grow from just a local Northern Nevada board. Thanks everyone for the support over the last few years and thank you all for continuing to support the board. Thanks to the mods that have helped keep the board running smooth. I look forward to seeing everyone on the trails in 2009!!!:Big Grin: HAPPY NEW YEARS

O k so Im finally here,yes I am the new owner and yes Frank Rizzo is my real name.

First off I can tell you how I got involved with this site.I own an import/export business and deal with Jeremy/rockape some times on a daily basis and we have become long distance friends and know each other well enough to talk about our lives outside of or respective businesses.

So a little over a month ago,I call him up to see if there is any special JDM engines he is currently needing.During our conversation I ask him why is the rock gods down?He tells me host problems,and a some what lack of interest to jump on it and get it fixed.So we go into a big conversation of why he isnt that interested anymore,and what he thinks the site needs to become his original vision.He gives my his input and I tell him that I think it needs to be run more like a business and he needs to invest in the sport more and the rest will come.So in a joking way he says "you think you can do it?" I tell him Im not sure but a business is a business and I bet I could grow it.

So after a few days I call him back and ask him if he is serious.He says maybe,he will talk to his partner.Well after alot of going back and fourth and quite a few stipulations on his part and mine we come to a deal.And here I am.

Im not going to go into alot of detail in this post about what is gonna be done as it is more productive to make the changes than just talk about them.

But I can tell you,certain small things are going to instantly change and have already changed.One thing is the 35% section will need a password to enter,pm rockape or big blue for it.It will still be there and free but I would hate for someone at work that didnt know what it is get fired for opening it up accidentially.

Also the hosting space will jump by leaps and bounds as we will go to our own server,this is a big investment money wise but I dont wanna see this place go down if I can help it.

I have alot of ideas to get our name out and bring in some real traffic and grow this place nation wide or bigger.Some change is good but I dont wanna take away from what has been started,just stream line it a little bit.

So a little over a month ago,I call him up to see if there is any special JDM engines he is currently needing.During our conversation I ask him why is the rock gods down?He tells me host problems,and a some what lack of interest to jump on it and get it fixed.So we go into a big conversation of why he isnt that interested anymore,and what he thinks the site needs to become his original vision.He gives my his input and I tell him that I think it needs to be run more like a business and he needs to invest in the sport more and the rest will come.So in a joking way he says "you think you can do it?" I tell him Im not sure but a business is a business and I bet I could grow it.

So after a few days I call him back and ask him if he is serious.He says maybe,he will talk to his partner.Well after alot of going back and fourth and quite a few stipulations on his part and mine we come to a deal.And here I am.

Im not going to go into alot of detail in this post about what is gonna be done as it is more productive to make the changes than just talk about them.

But I can tell you,certain small things are going to instantly change and have already changed.One thing is the 35% section will need a password to enter,pm rockape or big blue for it.It will still be there and free but I would hate for someone at work that didnt know what it is get fired for opening it up accidentially.

Also the hosting space will jump by leaps and bounds as we will go to our own server,this is a big investment money wise but I dont wanna see this place go down if I can help it.

I have alot of ideas to get our name out and bring in some real traffic and grow this place nation wide or bigger.Some change is good but I dont wanna take away from what has been started,just stream line it a little bit.

I sometimes buy shipping containers full of those engines from japan.The import crowd loves them.I usually try to buy mostly honda stuff because it sells very well.

there are a lot of OEM options for the 100 series LC's that were never offered in N America. Just in country's where they actually wheel them. I'm almost sure you could move the 105 front clips, it would make a SAS very easy. I love my IFS but there are some guys that think they want to make a 100 into a rock crawler.

That's one of my buddies, his 100 is about on the edge of what you can do with a N American version. You know what Sam's shop rates are, not that there's anything wrong with them, and you saw the tank he built and know how many hours went into it. You can see why I'd rather get a NOS or take out factory Aux tank.

The aux tank connector should be right above the factory spare tire mount, that's where the factory aux tank is mounted. It's probably tucked up out of the way someplace. There is a aux tank switch blank in the dash, I've seen the switch connector there when I opened mine up to install the locker wiring, so I'm pretty sure the harness already has the aux tank wiring in it. It's typical for Toyota to make one harness for all applications.

Sorry,since there is a big market for the engines they are easy to sell.On the other hand certain japanese only options might sit on a shelf forever.I try to stay with stuff that moves.

One thing about buying containers is that it can be hit and miss,you might get a good one with plenty of sought after engines and then you can get a bunch of junk.

At one point I was able to buy complete cars but they have recently just about made it impossible to register them in the US now.It is too bad because japan gets all the really neat stuff.
