Gonna get a torch within the next couple of weeks. I really like the hypotherm 45. But its pretty spendy. Wondering is this too much tool for just some occansional use? Could save some and go with somthing like the miller spectrum 375 or even save alot and go with the HF ones. IF you have one which one? how do you like it?

I have a Miller Spectrum Thunder Rated cutting capacity = 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) 10 inches per minute (minimum speed at which an operator achieves a smooth steady cut using a hand-held torch) Maximum Quality Cutting Capacity = 3/16 in. (4.2 mm) Good quality cut achieved at lower speeds Sever Cut Capacity = 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) Maximum cut achieved at slow speeds in ideal conditions.
cost me $1300 with extra consumables..I don't use it, $750 offer

I'd go Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52, good quality product Great support, excellent warranty. We can get consumables on the cheap cheap too.

I'd say go with the miller, but all the welders/plasma stuff I have at my shop is miller and they've never let me down. I was just looking at the specs on that miller spectrum 375 xtreme and I like the idea it comes with the plugs already, and can be tapped into multiple voltages. I think miller also under rates how thick there machines will cut. Millers Auto-Line also solved a problem with our old welder shutting down do to low input voltage from the shitty power we have in our neighbor hood.

We were looking into the Hypertherm 30... tough decision considering it's a big chunk of change.

I've never had any experience with Hypertherm, but the spec's on that machine and the duty cycle actually look pretty damn good for what your going to be doing with it. You could probably keep it at 32amps for the thickness's you'll most likely be cutting and have 100% duty cycle which would be really nice.

Well I went into Praxair today to get some gas and wire, and i walked out with the hypertherm 600. Got a smokin deal on it :CowBoy-smoking: It was their last one and they are not gonna carry anymore, the hypertherm 45 takes its spot.
