i use several strong rare earth magnets in the shop for this or that and recently--- oops---- dropped it into a pile of shavings near the drill press. i've tried a number of ideas to get it clean and clear of the shavings. compressed air, new towel, clean gloves and those pesky shavings just won;t let go. one dude on pirate suggests using the wire wheel on the bench grinder....

ideas?

YOU NEED A STRONGER MAGNET!!!!I HAVE ONE OF THOSE ANGLE ONES TO HOLD STUFF FOR WELDING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!

MAYBE MAKE AND ELECTRO MAGNET FROM A BIG BOLT AND SOME WIRE???

HOW ABOUT ANOTHER ONE JUST LIKE THE ONE YOU GOT....THEN PUT IT ON THE SIDE THAT WILL REPEL THE MAGNET WITH THE SHAVINGS....MAYBE IT WILL LET THE SHAVINGS DROP AWAY???

I use a wire brush for the big stuff, just brush it off into the trash can. then the air kinda gets the rest. :gapteeth:
