The Rover gaskets that go between the manifolds and y pipe don't seal worth a shit. Is there a good gasket material, or maybe sealer that I should try?
Went on a snow run this weekend and charging throw lots of snow in 1st gear at 4,000 rpm has made the leak pretty annoying...

I think your prob is goign to be I haven't seen anyone make a rover specific gasket, but I've heard of people running the deadsoft aluminum or deadsoft copper gaskets with good luck.

Is it a flat gasket, doughnut or cone? I've had good luck with the soft aluminum but the copper works OK at the manifold, but they are to thin for the collector. Most of the time its the collector bolts loosening and then blowing out the gasket. Make sure and use a good locking fastener at the collector and then make sure your exhaust hangers match the motor mounts. As in Solid motor mounts you want hard poly hangers and rubber motor mounts you would want a hanging or doughnut style hanger.

I've had some luck with doubling up the manifold paper gaskets.

JET COATED HEADERS SEEM TO PRETTY MUCH KEEP THEM FROM BLOWING TOO......IT COULD BE THE THICKER FLANGES THE MORE $$$ HEADERS HAVE.
THE ALUMINUM GASKETS WORK GREAT.....BUT I DOUBT HE IS GONNA FIND THEM FOR A ROVER!!!!
GUESS YOU ARE JUST GONNA HAVE TO DRIVE IT EASIER.........

Here's what the gasket looks like...

just asmall piece of thin steel with some small ridges around it. They suck and never seem to seal...
I was thinking about using some of the high temp exhaust RTV on the old one?
I have to be careful though cause the oxygen sensors are not to far down on the y pipe.

Every vehicle I own has an exhaust leak. I hate it but never seem to win so I gave up!

I'd try that stuff big blue posted, or go see if you can get a sheet of copper and cut out your own gasket.

isn't the ultra copper a high temp resistant?

i bought some of that a long time ago when I first heard the small leak, but i can't remember where i put it.
I figured adding a little bit to each side of the new gasket wouldn't hurt...
