Hey everyone

I have been lurking for around a week now. I first found out about the site while watching extreme4x4 on Hulu. I wont lie I dont know crap about crap but I am learning from all the builds and taking notes. Right now I am tooling up. I dont have much to go. I would like to pick up a new welder (have a cheap HF one) and plasma cutter. Right now Im building the Gottrikes tubing bender and I am also designing a CNC Plasma table. I already have a CNC Mill in the garage but it is a small one 4"x9". Its great for smaller parts.

So basically I am giving everyone a heads up. I will be that guy asking all the stupid questions. If anyone has any CNC build questions I can help you out.

I guess I will start with my first newbie question. Does anyone know of a good build log that discuss chassis design. I really like the design of Mr Rockapes budget build, Draggbody honda kid buggy and a few others with the engines located in the rear. I just want to know what you have to think about when designing one. How much space to give yourself around the engine. One of the guys at work said to just put everything on the floor and draw around it. Dont know if that is all there is to it or not, but I guess we will see.

Again Hello everyone

Welcome to the board. Rockape should be able to help you out on his chassis build. It is defiantly a capable rig. Zebrau also has built one. And please feel free to ask away. If you get time post up a little build on that cnc table.

PRETTY MUCH THATS WHAT I DID.....

http://www.therockgods.com/forum/showpost.php?p=67495&postcount=82

I CAN TELL YOU THE PS PUMP HAS ONLY ABOUT AN INCH OF CLEARANCE BETWEEN IT AND THE REAR UPPER LINK!!!! AND ZEBARUs WOULD HAVE HAD A BUNCH LESS IF I DIDNT REVISE THE CHASSIS SIDE LINK MOUNT......

IN DESIGNING IT IS ALWAYS GOOD TO TRY TO TIE AS MANY TUBES INTO AN INTERSECTION AS IT MAKES FOR ALOT STRONGER DESIGN.......

I HAVE HAD MINE END OVER END WITH A TWIST AND OTHER THAN SOME VERY MINOR TUBE DENTING IT HAS NO DAMAGE!!!

AS YOU BUILD REMEMBER WHAT YOU ARE BUILDING IT FOR.....SAFETY!!! ITS NOT IF YOU ROLL ITS WHEN!!!!
