So last night I drive my Suburban over to exs. Watch tv have dinner nad go to leave. Suburban starts right up but here this ticking...put it in drive and nothing...I checked the fluid and its full. I checked the torque converter bolts and they are all tight. Linkage is still hooked up. So any ideas? Can a torque converter just quit like that? Can a tranny just die? It wasnt slipping nad I haven't had any trouble since i bought it. I did noticethat the vacum line that attachs to the side of the tranny had come off. I have only been drivning it around town so no long hauls. So any help would be great. I beleive that this year 1982 came with the th400 or the 700 but since i dont have overdrive i assume it isnt the 700.

most likely a broken flex plate. I'd check that and go from there
