Hello name is Pepe

I live in Mexico and would like to say hello. I watch the low-buget build on Spike TV online.

I have tons of question for the persen that build the buggy. I would like to know more for maybe some to be imported.

Welcome. I was just down in Mexico and I saw some sick looking rigs cruising around. I dont know why but i was kinda surprised. Look up a user named MR. Rockape. He is the mastermind behind the buggy. There are several different builds on the site for both his buggies and one of the chasis he sold. Feel free to post up some pics of local trails.

what part of mexico u from ?

We live in Mexico City.

I was born in Orange County, so I'm a American citizen. My parents moved from Mexico in the late 60's, then moved back in the early 90's to retire.
I moved back to Mexico take care of them due to their age, and declining heath.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I will get some photos up for you guys, if you have never seen the Baja 1000. You need to take a vacation to Mexico!

Don't listen to the news about drug gangs and the pig flu either.

Mexico is just like any other place that we live in, their is good places, and bad places. Heck I think there is more work and jobs down here right now the the united states.

Thanks Mr.RockApe

How much does a Turn-key buggy cost? What options could you build?

Would you be interested in having dealer in Mexico?

IM NOT REALLY SURE WHAT A TURN KEY RIG WOULD GO FOR....SINCE THINGS LIKE STICKY TIRES, BEADLOCKS,ARBs AND DIFFERENT ENGINE OPTIONS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN FINAL PRICE.

THE ORIGIANAL WAS BUILT PRETTY REASONABLY BECAUSE I HAD SOME OF THE PARTS(NEW STICKY TIRES,SOME OF THE STEERING,PARTS CIVIC....)AND I ALSO GOT SOME PARTS SO CHEAP THAT DEAL IS UNHEARD OF TWICE....(TWO TOY STEERING AXLES W/5.29 GEARS....$200...)

I AM PLANNING TO BUILD AN UPDATED VERSION WITH THE 1999-2000 CRV B20(THEY ARE CHEAPER AND MAKE 40FTLBS MORE TORQUE...) BUT,WITH THAT ADDITION THERE COMES ANOTHER PROBLEM OF USING AN ELECTRONICALLY SHIFTED AUTOMATIC TRANS...(MORE WIRING....)

MY ORIGIANL INTENT WITH THESE WAS TO TAKE ALL THE GUESS WORK OUT OF BUILDING A BUGGY....LIKE LINK PLACEMENT,ENGINE MOUNTING AS WELL AS PROVIDING AN ENGINE MANAGEMENT SUITED FOR THE HONDA IN A STAND-ALONE APPLICATION LIKE THIS AND PRE-MODIFIED PARTS TO MAKE A DO IT YOURSELFER END UP WITH A CAPABLE RIG THAT DIDNT COST AN ARM AND A LEG.

Well you did a great job.

So how long would it take you to build 5 buggy's Turn-Key, or just all the parts ready to be bolted on? How much do you think shipping would cost?

I'm looking at some other makes to, but really like your design. Early spring is the best time for wheeling down here. I would like to have all five running by first week of march. My buddies and I are going to buy them all at the same time, this is why we need five.

WE NEED TO DISCUSS EXACTLY WHAT YOU GUYS WANT AND EXPECT TO PAY....THE ONLY REAL PROBLEM I CAN SEE GETTING THESE DONE BY THEN WOULD BE SOURCING THE AXLES....10 TOYOTA STEERING AXLES MIGHT BE TOUGH TO FIND........I AM UP FOR THE CHALLENGE IF YOU GUYS ARE.ILL PM YOU MY CELL # AND WE CAN DISCUSS IT.

Ok, So this might be a problem with the axles.

Well I will have to see what we can find down here. We do have some Toyota Trucks that come up from South America, that you guys can't get in the states.

If not I can look at some other buggy's that people sell that might be easier to get down here fully built.

I was viewing the build on spike that Ian did, can you build one with the changes that he did?

I like his idea's on the changes on the tubing better then yours, no offense.

We should be able to buy one from you for about $10,000-$12,000 Turn key? If we buy five.

I CAN BUILD HIS CHANGES...ITS ACTUALLY EASIER THAN MINE....LESS BENDS!!!

10-12K IS ABOUT WHAT I FIGURE MINE COST IN JUST PARTS(ALOT I ALREADY HAD...SO MINE WAS CLOSER TO $8500,THAT WAS BEFORE THE BEADLOCK WHEELS)

A TWIN TO MY ORIGINAL TURN KEY WOULD CLOSER TO 20K-ISH,DEPENDING ON THE DEALS I COULD FIND ON SOME OF THE PARTS........I KNOW THE TV SHOW HAS KIND OF MADE IT OUT THAT FOR $1000 BUCKS YOU COULD HAVE A CHASSIS WITH AN ENGINE /TRANS......BUT WHAT HE HASNT SAID IS THERE IS SOME TIME IN DISASSEMBLY OF THE TRANS FOR MODIFICATIONS,WIRING HARNESS,GEARS,AXLES,TIRES WHEEELS,SEAT,COOLING SYSTEM,BRAKES,FULL HYDRAULIC STEERING....AND MORE!!!

THIS IS REALLY THE REASON I OFFER THESE LIKE I DO....THEY ARE FOR THE GUY WHO WANTS A BUGGY BUT DOESNT MIND SEARCHING OUT SOME PARTS AND DOING SOME LIGHTER FABRICATION AND BUILD A COOL RIG.SAVING ALL THE LABOR $$$ I WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE.

MY INTENTION WAS TO NEVER REALLY BUILD THEM TURN KEY...EVEN THOUGH I CAN.

I think the price is a bit high but we can talk, maybe I will just buy one to start.

Then I could just copy the design and start selling them out of Mexico? I know I could have it made turn key for about $8,000. I still have Family in OC that could act as a dealer for me and just import them to America. Our labor is cheap down here and steel and other supplies are half the cost of America.
