OK I sold the Dodge and picked up a super clean 99 F250 with a 7.3 for a good price. The 7.3 diesels are bringin stupid big money right now. Most of the low mileage ( under 70k) were selling for 25k. Heres the rig:clap:

Bare bones 7.3 diesel thats not even broke in yet. 36k on the Odometer, manual hubs, t-case shift lever, it even has the original batteries. Owned by a little old lady from Reno.

I knew you would like it APE!! Its going to get an exhaust to keep the EGTs down and a mild lift. It really drives like a brand new truck. I had one just like it 10 years ago and it was the most dependible truck I ever owned. I was looking for a 4 door but I just couldn't pass up the 36k.

Buying my 7.3 was the best thing I have ever done. Like all of the big 3 everyone of them has there own problems. Mine is on the 5th trans. But I tow all the time with my foot in it. It had 245k on the odometer and runs great.

Found a good deal on a 6" lift. Some guy on craigslist was parting a truck out. I showed up and it was a truck I owned 10 years ago. Funny how that stuff comes around. So I bought a lift that I bought 10 years ago. :Big Grin: $300 for a skyjacker softride lift. It will need a little more tire but its starting to look like MY truck now. I also cut out the muffler so its strait piped 3.5", Put the big napa 6637 air filter in it and cut the foil off the intercooler tube, and did the ccv mod where you remove the breather from the intake to keep the oil out on the intercooler. Its getting there.

ccv = crank case vent. this is a good mod for powerstrokes. if you look on the drivers side valve cover you will see a little rectangle box on it with a hose that goes to the intake boot of the turbo. this lets oil to be sucked / blown into the inlet of the turbo. it will eventually fill your ic up with oil to the ic cooler tube level. i have seen these mods done a few different ways.

CCV mod - almost every 7.3 you look at has oil seeping out of the intercooler tubes, rerouting the crank case vent under the truck to a catch can eliminates this. Trupster is right the "doghouse" on the drivers side valve cover has an elbow about 2" long that dumps oil into the turbo inlet. I just removed the doghouse and flipped it 180 so the exit is toward the firewall, put a piece of heater hose and routed it under the cab to a breater. I still need to build a catch can. Replace the section of intake tube with a short piece of 4" exhaust tube.
6637 Filter mod - Its the best way to filter your 7.3, Its a giant filter that replaces the stock air box. They are cheap at NAPA and I saw a huge difference in power. It also sounds like it has a blow off valve, every time you let off the throttle.
Foil delete mod - No performance gains but it looks alot better under the hood and lets you hear your turbo.
I'll post up some pics when I get a chance.

YOU KNOW THE OIL IN THE INTERCOOLER THING IS A REAL PROBLEM ON SOME TRUCKS....PROBABLY CAUSING MIS-DIAGNOSED TURBOS AS BEING BAD WHEN ITS JUST BLOW-BY......:Big Grin: I SWEAR THEY SHOULD PUT A DRAIN PLUG ON THE INTERCOOLERS!!!
MINE ALREADY HAS A BS-K&N FILTER AND INTAKE TUBE....I WONDER IF THE FILTER YOU TALK ABOUT WILL FIT IN THE SPOT.......

It should. I had a K&N on my cummins and replaced it with the BHAF that Don is talking about. it's cheap, it's HUGE and it solved the fine powder problem I was seeing inside the air intake after the filter. The K&N just didn't filter it enough. I've had the big filter on the cummins for 6 months and it's clean as can be inside there now. Same part # as Don posted.

Heres a couple of pics of the filter. There are a few companies making a dust cover for them also. You can see its LARGE!! :Big Grin: I did trim the old airbox mount to get it to sit low under the lip on the fender. No more ugly foil on the intercooler tube. If you look over the master cylinder you can see the breather hose.

New rubber got mounted up today. I figured I would try the KUMHOs since I got all 4 for $805 out the door. I'm tired of paying BFG prices of $400-$500 per tire. I have a buddy running these and he is getting 40k+ miles out of them. We'll SEE :dunno:

I've been eyeballing either those or the Yokohama's at the tire rack. I just snagged a set of 16x8 black wheels for the dodge and next it's time for next skins. :D $800 out the door for those suckers is a great deal.
I'm down for some wheeling. I need to get out!! The yota is just sitting there beggin to go.
